I Love learning, but how am I going to pass the PAX? I'm an LPN that graduated from high school 30 years ago. I don't remember very much from High School especially regarding math.
Getting my degree as an RN has always been my Goal. I'm starting to get discouraged that I'm not going to be able to return to school. I planning on going to Galen Tampa/St. Pete.
I have been studying on Khan Academy.org as well as the NLN RN PAX Study book/guide.
I have an a lot of trouble with Math especially algebra. Also with physics/science because I'm not sure where to focus?
It's difficult know where to focus?
Your insight would be immensely appreciated… Feeling very discouraged.
Thanks Tons!

Hi,
to begin with, do not feel discouraged. There are so many people that wish to become nurses that have different challenges but somehow manage to plow through and emerge at the top. All it takes is hard work. As humans we are all flexible and have high levels of endurance, some more, some less. Granted you graduated high school three decades ago, you may want to brush up on sciences and math, since you mentioned those were your weakest suites.
Btw, have you completed all the needed pre-reqs for the RN program that you want to apply? If not, take them first and worry about the exam till much later. If you did take those classes but over a decade ago, I am sure you will need to retake at least A&P.
Let us know what you decide.
Thank use so much for your encouragement. It's greatly appreciated and needed. I'm currently an LPN and I have everything ready to go to attend Galen College of Nursing here in the Tampa/Saint Pete Florida area. Except that I have to pass the PAX exam.
How very daunting and I enjoy challenges, truly I do. Still it's like taking your ACT or SAT 30 years after you graduated from high school. I have been studying math extensively. Still though I'm struggling with algebra. Although I love science it's difficult to discern what aspects I should focus on?
Hoping to hear of other student nurses who have been out of high school for long length of time such as myself. Would be a really encouraging to hear of someone such as myself. Their challenges and they're triumphs would be so very helpful.
Again thank you so very much. your reply has giving me encouragement. Bless you
I graduated high school about 12 years ago, not as long as you have.
I think the exam covers a bit of everything in A&P: all the systems. So, to better prepare for the exam, go over each of the body systems: terms, concepts, ideas, processes, how each one operates and interacts with another one.
