Hello all! I am a first time "college goer" and am wanting to become an RN... I am all signed up and they gave me a paper on all the classes I MUST complete before even taking the TEAS... Not sure how I should sort them...
The college only excepts nursing applications once a year(jan) here are the courses:
ENG 101
MTH 100
BIO 201
BIO 202
BIO 220
PSY 200
PSY 210
SPH 106 or 107
Fine arts elective
Is all of this doable in a years time??
Also, I have 3 children 7,5,1(ages)...

Yes it's very doable. Just work your schedule out so you will finish up before the deadline for January 2014. Good luck!!

It's definitely doable but is obviously going to take hard work and motivation. I am a current nursing student and have two children. I schedule study time just as I would work time and my husband is a huge help. The average full-time class load is 12 credit hours. Sounds like you will be ready to apply by 2014 if you go full-time. Good luck!

I had to complete the same amount of pre-reqs before being able to apply for my nursing program and it took me a year (full time) to complete them. So it's definitely doable. Good luck

Totally doable! You will need to take at least 4 classes a semester and maybe include a summer session as well. You will definitely have your hands full! Good luck.

As someone who is completing his prerequisites, I want to caution you. While it would be great to get these classes done as fast as possible, you should keep in mind that GPA is far more important than the speed by which you complete your classes. If you can get A's in ALL of your classes while managing a family life, more power to you. Just remember though, if you get a couple B's.... you're sunk.
Be careful, be enthusiastic, and shine academically. That's what matters! :)

Depending on the program you are trying to get into, a couple of B's will not SINK you.

Yes, it's def doable!! I am a single mother of a 3 year old little girl, it's just me 24/7 and I only have 2 more classes I have to do! So, you can def do it!! You just have to have motivation and know that you need to do well! You have to have a high GPA to get in, so make sure you study well and do you best to get all A's but don't stress out too much if you get a B every now and then!! It won't kill you! *trust me... I've done it! Lol*
Thank you all for the encouragement!! I am very excited to start this journey! I am wanting to be a L&D nurse. We will see how it goes :)
