i need your help. i hope someone can shed light to these rumors here in manila. Rumors has it that there was a nurse who went to the states as tourist and upon interview with Department of Homeland Security he was asked what was his purpose on visiting the US. He then replied he was there to visit his relative and have some vacation. Right there the DHS said "No your going to tke the NCLEX exam". so there he was, no entry to the US and was airport to airport. I hope that was just a rumor.

Well what then will be a Philippine nurse doing in the U.S.? NCLEX is offered internationally example is Hong Kong which is alot cheaper and no visa required. Well ofcourse if you're friend would want to skip the immigration process and start to work there and not JUST TOUR.
just my opinion...

hi. unfortunately, this is true and it happened to someone I know. He has a mutliple tourist visa and has been here in the US 3 times before. He was here the first time to help me with my toddler because I had to have heart surgery. He's always gone back on time, never had a problem, never did anything wrong to make them deport him..but they did. This is very upsetting. He said he was one of the 9 foreigners who were all sent back for one reasi=on or the other. Just so unfair.
Coming for NCLEX will not send you home, something else may have been showing up. And as you said, there were 9 others that were returned as well. So, something was definitely going on then. But that is not normal.

The story makes no sense...
Why deny someone, even if you believed they were here to take the NCLEX? It isn't like you can just take the test and start working as a nurse! There are requirements other than the fact that you managed to make it past a customs agent (or whatever they're called).
If this person had a valid tourist visa, why would Homeland Security decide they were here to take the NCLEX anyway? As for the person who got sent back with 9 others, that poster said they were all sent back ''for one reason or another''. So it wasn't just Homeland Security arbitrarily keeping tourists out of the country.
