Does anyone know of any hospitals in the US that help new graduate RNs assistance with paying back their students loans as a recruitment tool? Not tuition reimbursement but paying back on a student loan for a work agreement.
Any help would be appreciated.

All of these hospitals will payoff your loans. You won't see it advertised on their websites, but call HR. Lehigh Valley isn't a bad place to live either.
Competition is fierce for GN's and experienced RN's in the Lehigh Valley.
Good luck!

There is a government program you can apply for that will help you pay back student loans if you agree to work in an area of critical nursing shortage, which is basically everywhere. It is through the Dept. of Health, I'll get more details for you if you are interested. (don't have 'em right now)
Also keep in mind that the interest you pay on your student loans is tax deductable, so that's nice, makes me happy. :)

I'm paying back my student loan out of my pocket. Its really better that way than through some indentured servitude agreement with a hospital you don't even know you'll like. Seriously, think about it.
I'll gladly pay the $600/month (making double payments, will be done in Sept) to have the freedom to choose my employer. Same reason I'll never again take a sign on bonus.

Not sure where you are, but Pennsylvania has a student loan forgiveness program. You have to make sure your hospital is a participating facility, though.

Is it true that the government will pay back up to $25,000 in loans per YEAR??!!! I read that on the gov website but find it REALLY too good to be true!!! Have any of you guys gotten that much paid back in a year? And does it really apply to both stafford loans AND alternative (private) loans too?
Thanx!

Hi all,
I can only speak for my state which is OHIO. In cincinnati the hospitals help pay back loans if you agree to sign on for a certain amount of time. Christ hospital is offering 30,000 if you sign on for three years (on their cardiac unit, im not sure if it pertains to any other units)!! Good Sam/Trihealth is offereing 5k/yr if you sign on for two years so 10k! It is a good point that if you pay out of pocket you get to chose where you want to work, but im sooo poor and i just want out of debt!! im sure that some of you can relate!
