MODS..please don't move this. I have just one question and need responses today. Pretty please???
Here goes:
I had another thread about leaving a job off resume I had only had for one month (it was recent, RN job, new grad). I know now I should include it and will in future applications.
That said, before I already submitted a resume to an employer and got called for an interview TOMORROW! The position is for nights, not even sure if I want it then, but still..I am afraid that if I go to the interview and get hired they will run a background check and find the job. If that happens, and they decide not to hire me, I am afraid I will be forever banned from that hospital system. Or I guess they could have already ran the background check...but unlikely until they make an offer. I was thinking I could bring an updated resume and give it to the interviewer stating I just forgot to update it but that would ruin me too I am sure. Is there any fixing this??
I don't want to ruin my chances of ever being employed at this hospital system. Should I just cancel the interview saying I was offered a day position somewhere else and wait a bit to reappy or go anyway? I don't want to be labeled a liar but don't know how to fix what I've done.

I would show up with an updated resume and be forthcoming (within reason) about the rationale behind why you initially left off your first nursing position.
Even if you cancel the interview, that incomplete resume/application could come back to bite you in the future.
Perhaps they won't choose to hire you, but you'll ruin your chances forever if they find out you've been dishonest. If there is one thing that it is important in our profession, it is the trust of our supervisors, colleagues and patients. To be labeled as untrustworthy is just as bad as being called incompetent IMO.

I agree with the above poster. Go to the interview with an updated resume and be forthcoming about things. It is hard to fix things when you are labeled as dishonest. Good luck!!

why did you leave it off your resume in the first place? i really don't think the hospital will care. when i interviewed i never even gave the manager my resume nor did she ask for it, she didn't even ask for references. all i submitted was my online application. i think they just want to make sure you are ingood standing with the board and are truly licensed.

I agree with the above posters. It is not a big deal, as long as you take the updated resume to the interview. Just say that you realized you forgot to add it. And have a good excuse for leaving the position. Many managers realize that it is really tough out there for nurses.

I think your stressing a bit too much over this. Was the job with the same facility or system? If it makes you feel better take an updated resume just in case.

I often totaly forget to add a position I had for only a few months. I left in good standing, it was just that they started a weekend requirement and I had another (better paying) job every weekend. No one has ever noticed or commented and I've always been hired.
Just wanted to say THANK YOU MODS FOR NOT MOVING THIS THREAD. YOU GUYS ROCK!!
Updated to say that I did decide to be straight up with them. They were a bit confused/suprised but it was just a blip in the interview. Then they showed me the floor so maybe that is a good sign?!
So now I am off to write my Thank you letters. Thanks everyone for responding so quick!

I had the same thoughts about my last job when I went for my interview. I put it on my resume and my application, but it wasn't even discussed, and I was hired. If someone asks me about it, I'll just say I got laid off in January and I took this job so I wouldn't have to be on unemployment and unfortunately, I was not a good fit for the job as it was a technical position.
