Help Nclex- "near passing" in all areas

Published

Need Help/insight/advice. I took Nclex beginning of Oct. after studying with Uworld- I ran out of time at 170 questions and received letter today saying "near passing in all subjects." I "thought" I would finish near 75 questions and when I didn't it made it just worse and it was like so many horror stories I have read. I really had to try to just calm down and focus.

I did Uworld 50's/60's and last 75 questions I did, 80%. I am not sure what went wrong but I am ready to regroup. I know I was really really nervous and I felt like in so many that it was like an eye test- "which is better, a or b" and then having to choose between the two but having a hard time. I kept looking at the clock but at that point I was in slow motion. I would really appreciate any help/insight. (My test was all over the place).

When I left I felt like I totally bombed (many things I felt like I had never heard of) and thought if I didn't pass, I wouldn't even know where to start studying again. I guess the good news is I was close to passing but that really isn't quantifiable to me. How close is near????

Thanks in advance

Those who passed on 2nd attempt please

I totally understand this. Uworld is nothing like the Nclex in my opinion, it's great to review content but doesn't prepare you for the type of questions Nclex gives. I used Kaplan to passs it was really great it's hard but you have to remain dedicated with it, do all questions, review, watch content videos. I truly felt Kaplan questions helped me passed the nclex give it a try

I used a friend's UWorld mainly for their rationales but for questions I mostly stuck with Kaplan and the Lippincott NCLEX app. I used to HATE Kaplan with a passion, like really really used to hate their questions. I thought they were unnecessarily hard. I guess in the end like the other poster said you really do have to stick with it. When I got to the NCLEX itself I was at ease because I thought Kaplan was waaaay harder than the actual NCLEX. In fact, I found the NCLEX so much easier than Kaplan that I began to think I had failed. But I passed in 75! Give Kaplan a try & best of luck to you!!

I'm going to be honest. Don't take "Near the passing standard" as you were close nor don't use that as a measuring point. When you are studying for this next attempt, I highly suggest you study all areas and start fresh if you can. After failing my second attempt using UWorld for my NCLEX PN, I decided that it's best that I start over in terms of re-learning the core content all over again but not by reading Saunders because that's too much to read. Instead, I went with Hurst and only Hurst. I watched all the videos while filling out the student manual and after I did that I re-read the student manual simultaneously with practice questions a month before my NCLEX date. I ended up passing my third attempt going the maximum 205 questions.

My other tip is don't expect to stop at 75 questions because that will definitely ruin your focus. Go in expecting to go all 265 questions. When I got to question 133 (the number I stopped at my second attempt) I had to bring myself to calm down and focus for the whole way. After I took a breath and calmed down and started to focus better. I kid you not, that small breath will calm you down. All in all, the NCLEX will make it seem like it's all over the place and trust me that's the scary part but as long as you know your core content basics you will be prepared to answer any question given to you. How did you utilize UWorld?
