HELP- MY PHOTO on a Poster - YIKES!!!

Published

I was just selected as Nurse of the Year, and my photo will be placed on a poster in our hospital. QUite frankly I am somewhat embarrassed and nervous about it. I was excited about being selected but now I am scared and dont know what to wear. Has anybody been through something like this?

They want to take my picture next week, and I am not sure what to wear. Scrubs - of course. But printed ? Solid colors? What looks good?

ANy ideas, friends?

I did some modeling before I started nursing and here's some tips-

Solid color -- whatever looks good on your skin tone.

Makeup -- if you wear makeup, put it on heavier than usual. The camera washes you out.

Hair -- simple and neat, I always like to put some volume in there, it looks good in pictures.

Practice poses in the mirror. Most people have a side that looks better than the other. When you smile, think of a good memory that makes you really happy, makes the smile even more authentic. Finally, do several takes, and don't be afraid to ask for approval of the pictures!

I was going to suggest that you ask to approve your photo. I remember how disappointed I was when the wrong photo was published in my senior high school yearbook. I never got over that and always wondered who was responsible for changing my selection.

And congrats!!!

Seriously Congrats to Mbshil it is an honor, and you should be proud....now just because I'm a wise cracker, I have to wonder why everyone is suggesting the "perfect makeup and hair etc." I say come on show the real side of nursing, sweat running down the brow, hair in full flying flutter, shoes with a dot of poo left on, and shirt pocket full of pens, drug book, measuring tape, and tic tacs, and a smile that says "Oh my aching feet". :jester:

Get your hair and make up done nicely. I think solids look best, but make sure it is someting "natural" for you. If you are a PEDS nurse and always wear prints, then wear a toned down print, that isn't overwhelming. I agree with no white, unless you are a nurse that is always in white. Some nurses look fabulous in white against the right background. Congratulations. That is such an achievement.
