HELP: licensed in saipan, need verification for visa screen

I'm a Filipino nurse and currently still in the Philippines, but I'm also licensed in Northern Marianas (also known as Saipan). I applied for a visa screen last year and (stupidly) declared that I'm also licensed in aformentioned US colony; the problem is I don't know how much I should pay the board to process my license verification and send it to CGFNS.

Last August, I sent them the form, along with a note saying that I have no idea how much I should be paying them to process it, so if they could please email or call me (I left my email and number) to let me know so I can send the necessary amount right away. NADA.

Now my application is going to expire in MAY, and I've emailed them, left them messages in their phone (because no one is answering, ***?) but I'm not getting any reply! This is frustrating, because I shelled out 300+ USD for the visa screen application, but if it expires, then it's just like I threw away that hundreds of dollars.

My question is -- do you have any advice on what else I should do? I'm thisclose to calling CGFNS and asking them as well, but I have a feeling they won't really care. And I'd like to ask my co-nurses first, just in case someone had a similar problem.

It can take them months or weeks. They are known for being quite slow in handling things like this.

A money order will work as long as it is paid in US dollars. They are normally handled thru US banks, just like the cashier's checks.

I'd like to correct the fee for license verification, it is $40 not $70! They only accept postal money order or cashiers check drawn from US bank or cash but not advisable as it may not reach to them.

how long does it take for them to do a verification of license?? is money order the same as cashier's check?? are they gonna accept money order??

sad to say that saipan process verification of license in untimely manner, some even had to retake the ielts for it has lapse already and no progress with their visa screen application. I would suggest if you have a relatives or friends residing on that place to help you assist in proxy on your part provided you have an authorization letter duly notarized by an attorney. either of two they will accept as long it is drawn from a US bank not from a foreign bank.

And for others that are reading here:

Please do not use Saipan for licensure if you are not actually going to work there.

They do not have a computerized BON and things are done when they are done. They may grant permission to sit for the NCLEX sooner, but you will be waiting much longer for everything else.

In the long run, you will have not saved any time, but spent much more trying to get things done. As well as additional money.

And for others that wish to test in Saipan for whatever reason, please be aware that the three day visitor visa is no longer available. It is now going to require the full US tourist visa to be able to go there. And they do not issue the visa based on wanting to test there.

yes suzanne is right. i'm currently here in nashville and my contract from my agency will be ending this march. I'd like to transfer to sacramento pretty soon to join my sis and nephew. but saipan bon is delaying this process because until now california bon is still waiting for them to verify my license. I sent it to them 1st week of january with $40 cash in the envelope but they didnt respond to it. So 1st week of feb i sent a money order instead this time with a bigger amount and sent it to their physical address but it was sent back to me by usps yesterday with "insufficient address" indicated in the envelope. I resent it again yesterday to the p.o. box address. oh this is really becoming very stressful. I would just like to know if anybody's verification of license was processed at all by this bon? if not i am this close to having my dad in philippines present himself to their office just to follow up this simple paper work.

i got my money order from walmart. its this stall called "moneygram" that's where i purchased my money order here. And i put $90 in my money order. including a $20 tip i guess?? I dont have any idea how much they charge, so i can kind of overpaid it. i think nursys just charged me $30 for my TN license i think...i'm not sure...but endorsing my tennessee license was a whole lot easier.

Not sure if you are aware of the health-care market in the Scaramento area at this time. Jobs are quite tight there and several of the hospitals have hiring freezes in place. You state that your contract will be up next month, but then what type of visa are you on? Do you already possess a green card, or were you under the H1-B visa?

People get things verified by them, remember that verification is needed thru them for the Visa Screen Certificate as well.

This just gives more ammunition to my statement that no one should be going thru them unless they are specifically going to be working there.

Nursys did a verification, but that is not acceptable for CGFNS. The form actually needs to be filled out and submitted for the VSC.

Your issue is that you require verification from Saipon directly before you can endorse to CA. Having a family member go to an office of theirs is not going to do any good unless they are physically in Saipan.

Saipan does not have to be in any hurry for the verifications, it is not their priority; if you look at it that way. There is nothing that you can do to speed up things there.

i already went to the vsc processing, have my ichp and all that stuff before i left the philippines. i'm a green card holder here in us already. i'm really not in a hurry to transfer to cali since my bf does not really want to go there. i might just try working there sometime this year. i think every hospital here in us is in a state of recession. our hospital here in nashville has built a new pt tower complete with all the equipments and technology but after that they laid off 90 people. i've got 2 jobs here, one full time and 1 part time job to a different hospital, i guess just in case if the other one gets bad i still have another employment as a source of income. My conract from the agency will be ending this march like i said (the american based agency who came in to philippines to hire a couple of nurses a few yeas ago). i dont have plans of staying with the agency itself but the hospital has offered me a job to stay and work for them directly. I have accepted this job already.

As for my cali plans, that just have to wait for now, as for my dad going to saipan, i dont think he's very keen and excited to go there anyway (as there is nothing really to do in there). But now that you have mentioned it suzanne that that wouldnt help i wouldn't waste anymore money for him to go there.

As for cali bon, they've emailed me a few weeks ago that this verification of license from cbne is the only thing thats deificient thats why they couldnt release my cali license. I asked her how to contact them and she said they're also having trouble getting in touch with them.

I'll just wait until they process this since i jst sent it again thru the mail thursday, hopefully this time they will receive it already since i sent it to their p.o. box address.

And youre right suzanne no one should be going thru them as their bon if theyre not going to work there. i guess it was because they issue an att right away and my agency was in a hurry to get my att a few years ago. i dont have an idea because theyre the ones who were taking care of the paper works. i was just their to get all the exams done and have myself ready for interviews.

Glad that you explained it to me. Also be aware that unless your father or another relative has a tourist visa for the US, they cannot go to Saipan. They have stopped issuing the three day visitor visas that were available in the past and now require the full US tourist visa.

I would just get the verification done when it gets done, there is most definitely no hurry. Jobs are extremely tight in CA right now in most areas.

Best of luck to you.

I can understand your frustrations. Just for your information CBNE of Saipan is in the process of moving to a new office near our hospital. This is according to my co-worker who happens to be a member of the board of nursing. Not sure though if its permanent or temporary. But I'll keep you posted.

well thanks y'all for the information that you gave. i really appreciate it. this website is amazing nurses helping other nurses. funny cause i wouldnt have been a member if not for saipan bon. i'll keep y'all posted about my verification of license. hopefully i'll get it this spring..or summer.

and as for nursedandy...that was probably the reason why usps sent back my mail to our house last thursay...is it because they'e transferred to a different office and i address my letter to their physical address?? maybe so...anyways, thanks y'all!

If Im not mistaken,USPS does not deliver to physical address here only thru PO BOXes. Only UPS, DHL or FEDEX can deliver to physical address.
