Im so worried! I took my hesi today and my over all grade is 88! I study for anatomy for almost a month and i only got 76. I passed it by a point. this is annoying! but my math and reading was high which pulled me up to a 88. i think 88 in not enough to guarante my acceptance also my gpa! my prereq gpa is 3.8 and my cumulative gpa 3.6. Im applying for the generic program. Im really nervous!Anyone from the program already knows if my grades are enough in order to get into the program? It is killing me! anyone else applied??

Lehman only cares about the GPA of your pre-requisite courses. You are in the candidate pool as long as you have over 75 on all HESI subjects, even a 100 won't give you a better chance.

Majority of the accelerated students have 4.0 GPA from the pre-requisites. And yes, only 20 were accepted last year. I'm in the middle of the program right now and I think only 2 people got in with less than 4.0(could be more than 2, I'm not sure). You should apply to both accelerated and generic, last year's form had the option for that(option is always good).

It's a very intense program, there are many pros and cons. I really wanted to do it because I'm feeling old lol, I don't want to spend 2 years when I can finish it in one year. Also, money plays a major part too.

Overall I enjoyed the program very much because I was lucky to have good instructors and good teammates(there will be a lot of group work). The fact that NOTHING is curved also promotes a friendly environment; there is no competition among the peers.

Let me know if you want a longer run down of the pros and cons. I tried to stick to your questions only.

oh no! so I guess 3.85 doesn't necessarily cut it :( and I should apply to some back ups.

I'm thinking Pace and NYU... I still wanted to go to a CUNY but Hunter wants genetics now and a different entrance exam and other CUNYs don't have accelerated or only Associates.

Do you know the rough schedule for the generic program? Is it part time (evenings and weekends)? I can't seem to find that information on the website.

still hoping my 3.8 makes it in! thanks so much for your help!

With your 3.8 you should definitely apply to both accelerated and generic. It's all about the top 20 candidates. If the bottom half of the top 20 applicants have 3.7, then you are in. I'm pretty sure you can get into the generic program with no problem.

The generic program is a full time program. You can see a list of courses here:

http://lehman.edu/academics/health-human-services-nursing/nursing/documents/generic-curriculum-pattern.pdf

The classes are throughout the day. You could be in school from 9am to 9pm a few times a week. The clinical rotations are usually 7am to 7pm. There are no weekend classes. Only Monday through Friday.

If you were thinking about a part time job, chances are you won't be able to do it, unless you have a part time job that is extremely flexible in scheduling. Or you could work weekends only. Some people find nursing very challenging so working is out of question. But some people find it easy too, so it all depends on you.

@hgoldwater

Just as StarvingRtist said, u should choose the both options (accelerated and generic) on the application form to be safe..All my friends in de accelerated program had 4.0 GPA..For 3.8, you can get into the generic program...But u can also apply to other schools if you still want the accelerated program...Gud luck on your applications..

Hello guys, Can you please tell me the required GPA to get in Lehman nursing program? Because I see above you all have 3.5 and better. I'm at Bmcc but i want to transfer.

Hi StarvingRtist!

I have been following this thread since last year lol and I am now applying for the 2016 nursing program at Lehman. I read how Lehman made a mistake with your micro grade and didn't pay attention to the transfer evaluation form. I transferred to Lehman over 2 years ago and I had previously taken A+P at another college but it was more of an intro to a&p and there was no lab, so Lehman transferred the course over as an elective since it wasn't the same as their a+p and I had to retake the course to satisfy that requirement (which was a good thing since I got a C..). Now 2 years later I have a 4.0 science gpa and a 91 on the hesi, and am in the middle of getting my application together. But what worries me is when I received the transfer credit evaluation form (admissions office printed it from cuny first and said I could of done it myself) it simply states the converted course which was bio1xx (elective) but it nowhere states that is the ap course that was transferred over as the elective it just shows the elective. I went to the nursing dept last week to speak to an advisor to see what they'll say but there's not going to be an advisor until feb 10th unfortunately. I am worried and nervous until I get to speak to someone at Lehman. But I guess my biggest fear is them seeing the course and grade on my old transcript but then looking at the transfer evaluation form and only seeing bio1xx and them taking my old grade instead of the grade I got at Lehman. Since it really doesn't state the ap course I took before doesn't satisfy their curriculum just a science elective that was transferred over. And that'll drop my gpa to not a competitive level. I'm really nervous í ½í¸ž I know your not an advisor lol but what do you think? I know you actually went through something similar. Sorry for the rant!!

Hello i have a few questions about transfer credits from lehman to liu. Do u think u can email me ?

thanks jennifer and styliah! Glad to see so many of us are christians, my faith has carried me a long way. Indeed, with god all things are possible!

To anyone who doesn't get in. Try liu brooklyn...

pros

1. They accepted me on the spot (even though i didn't take the teas [yet])!

2. They waived my application fee because i went on a "transfer tuesday."

3. They accepted all my classes, even my two leh 300 classes, i was like....! Hahaha.

4. I was immediately accepted into the clinical phase of the nursing program for fall 2015 and got a tour of the nursing floor and it's very nice.

5. I was told i could receive $15,000 in scholarship. $2,000 for transfer merit and i think the other $13,000 was for my gpa being high.

6. I was only required to pass the teas exam not try and get a high score. They accepted me and they said my spot was secure as long as i pass it.

cons

1. I live in the bronx and it's in brooklyn. They commute is only 1 hour though, so it's doable.

2. They require algebra, but they were allowing me to take a clep exam which is $140 (80 for the exam and 60 for testing fee), to opt of the class.

3.the tuition is high, $33,000, i think

4. They also require speech but i took the in monroe college while i was in high school but maybe there's a clep for that, or they could pull some strings.

Now this was back in march, not sure if they are still accepting application. But it's worth a try.

Curlybeauty I am so sorry I did not respond. For some reason I didn't get a notification about your post. Application deadline was March. 15th... I hope you found everything you needed. Good luck!

You can send me your email in a private message and I'll reach out to you.

I have a question I know you are required to take the HESI entrance program in the Spring at Lehman...can someone tell me what sections are on it ? Is it hard ? Whats the minimum grade to pass ? Do we get conversions or do we have to remember it, do they give us calculators ? and last question is it true we can't go back to previous questions ?

Hello everyone

My name is MANNY and I really needed some advice on generic nursing program at Lehman.

Specializes in Pediatric, NICU.

Hey Manny.. I think the best place to get specific info about the Generic program will be on the Lehman college nursing department page. The only think that comes to mind is that the Generic program is a 2-year program. Application deadline is ending of March..
