Hello everyone...... I just scheduled my board for Sept. 10th at 2pm. I'm extremely nervous, and feel like I didn't give myself enough time to study! I'm reviewing Saunders 3rd Edition NCLEX-PN, I'm currently on Ch. 40 (out of 66) I'm doing about 6 to 9 Ch. a day plus the questions at the end of each chapter (averaging mostly in the high 80's, 2 ch.'s in the 70's, and one ch I scored in the 60's). My goal is to be finished with the book by next Saturday so I can just review. I'm also going to my Med-Surg book for more info if needed. Do you think I'm reviewing to much at one time? I just feel so scared and stressed at the same time! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

I'm a 54 yr old who just passed the NCLEX-PN on 8/8/08. I tried doing what you're doing but quit trying to go thru the whole book(I used a different book) because I began to feel that I was spending all my time trying to go thru another book and not spending any time preparing for the NCLEX. I then began just taking the tests from the computer disc. I went online and just tested. This way you will learn the material because it gives rationales for right & wrong answers if you review the test when you're done with it and you can build up to longer & longer tests to prepare for a possibly long NCLEX. On computer you can choose amount of questions(and I build up more and more) and areas of testing. Hope this helps and good luck on your test
Just saw your other post on another site -- I was going to pay the $9.95 to get the "quick results" by phone. On the 2nd morning after my test I called(for about the 100th time-you don't get charged for the call until they give you your results) and they still had no results so I immediately went online to my state nursing board(under licence verification) and my licence showed up there, so I saved myself $9.95!!!

Thank you for your information! I'm going to start working on ERIworld.com tomorrow, this account was step up with my school and I still have access! I've heard a lot of girls tell me that the NCLEX and ERIworld.com questions really helped! I also am going to start looking at Kaplan 2009 Book for PN.... I'm just really starting to get stressed out!

I just took the NCLEX this wednesday, I only had 5 days to prepare and was overwhelmed with stess. I did about 80% of the saunders 3rd ed. and i did like 300 practice questions from the disk. But after taking the NCLEX i wish i had done atleast 1300 practice questions! I couldn't remember hardly anything that I studied, mainly because of craming. But i could have remembered a few of the practice questions in relations to the ones i had on the NCLEX. I walked out of the testing center 80% sure that i would be coming back to retake it. Luckily, i passed!!! with 85 questions. I would advise you to mainly focus on the NCLEX questions, that saunders disk has about 3500, trust me it will help you more.

I would have gotten a smaller book such as Delmar's Comprehensive. I did study from Saunders during school, but found it was too much information for the boards. This is not to say to take NCLEX lightly, but as others have mentioned, you need to start focusing on questions. If you are getting too many wrong in a particular area, that is where you can review the information that gives you so much trouble. For me, it was fluid and electrolytes that gave me the willies. I had to read it again and again every so often because I would get them mixed up. Thank goodness I did, because I got a few questions on sodium and calcium on mine.
I would consider obtaining CD ROMs from different sources; many people burn copeis of CDs. I had from Mosby, Saunders, Lippincott, Delmars, Incredibly Easy and Davis CDs to see different styles of questions-how many ways can they ask me about a certain subject. I guess it helped me-I passed with 85 questions the first time. Best of luck to you!
