Help :( I've been really irresponsible this weekend..

Published

I have my first APII exam tomorrow...there are only 4, and they are 60% of our grade.

I haven't really studied all weekend...

Has anyone had those times where if you were asked to add 2 + 2...you aren't really sure you would come up with 4?

My brain...feels like it's mush. I've kept this pace of a 5-hour class, 4 days a week, studing another 5 to 6 hours a day...since the end of May.

I'm very concerned I'm going to blow this. I've done some work...I have my notes all re-typed, my diagrams memorized, but we will have 20 short answer (mini-essay) type questions on the exam...and you really can't fake through that. You either know it or you don't.

I can usually get myself out of these slumps...but I'm worried about this one.

You know, I wouldn't recommend NOT studying for a test, but if you have been studying 5-6 hours a day, you probably know the material very well by now, and you probably only need a little review.

I hope you do well tomorrow!

If you don't know the material by now, cramming the nite before will not help and may actually hurt you. So just go over the diagrams, and just quiz yourself (yea people might think your crazy for talking to yourself but its for a good cause ;) ). Good luck

Just relax-- at this point there's probably nothing you can do. Try to remain positive and do the best you can. You never know you may do well.

You're probably just burned out. It's happened to all of us. Don't beat yourself up for it.

Good Luck tomorrow!

I have been in this situation before. At one point I had a major test, and didn't study because my son has a stomach virus, and was vomiting, crying, and sick all weekend. I spent the whole weekend holding him, cleaning up vomit, and washing stuff.

I know everyone else says to just relax, and try not to worry about it too much at this point, but I did the opposite. On the night before I made a pot of coffee, and studied all night long. The next morning I stopped and got a monster energy drink on my way to class, and studied some more in the car. I made an A, but I was really tired. In the end it was worth it. Good luck!

Thanks for the support...I was actually afraid this was going to happen b/c I was so burned out from API.

What I have been doing for the past week has been "prep work" for studying...retyping my notes (it's too massive to write..which I prefer), reading over the 88-frame powerpoint for each chaper (2 chapter exam), plus 30 essay questions that we were assigned, that I didn't even finish until Friday night (we were given them the day before).

I just haven't sat down, and put this stuff to memory, and every time I tried today, I just couldn't make myself read. I kept finding my mind wondering.

I calculated that this exam is about 15% of our grade, and if I can get at least a 50 on it..and do well on the rest (the lab practicum is 30% of our grade...which I do very well on...pretty much an A there), and attendance is 10% (I never miss..so A there). I may end up with a B in the end.

I have a new system that will work better for the coming week...I'm trying to focus on what I KNOW will be on the exam..pathway of light, how the tongue tastes, pathway of sound, and the hormone list, and labeling the eye and ear...40 MC and 12 instead of the original 20 essay...i'm concentrating on the essays instead of the other fluff...the essays were extremely thorough...but the "other stuff" on my power point I haven't looked at.

this just really sucks...b/c I like to do well on my exams..I haven't been this unprepared in a long time, and my children haven't been exactly cooperative today...Mommy about "lost it", as my husband flew out this evening on his weekly trips.

Ohh, your starting at Special Senses. We did that in AP 1, and started Endocrine System in AP2. It's really not that hard but since you have a limited time to learn it and that your just burned out it could be frustrating. Well hope you do well, good luck.

Well, I hope your test went/goes ok! Good luck!

Hopeful,

How did the exam turn out. Did you atleast pass the test?

If not keep moving along there will be others. Never give up.

you should look at the "incredibly easy" books at your bookstore. they have an A&P version of that book. im not sure how good it is because i have never used it but the ones i do have are wonderfu! they take the little time you have to look at something and make it so easy for you.

Sorry, I guess I should post an update.

I actually got a 77 (yup, ouch), on my first exam, but the good news is on my second I got a 90 and a 99 on my lab practical (which is 15% of our grade)..so I think I'll be on my way to at least a B, and hopefully an A, if I work hard this weekend.

Our professor has never taught summer school and admitted she overloaded us on our first exam. She said she would take that into consideration when calculating final scores for the course..so I'm hoping if I'm off by a point or so, I may get lucky.

Thanks for the pep-talk :)

congrats to you! keep it up :)
