HELP! Is there any Florida Excelsior students!!!!

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

So I did my application for $75 and I paid 6,000 for my modules, already took Micro through Excelsior.

I got my unofficial eval today. So I was so excited, went straight to the link to enroll. Saved up the whole $900 to enroll so I don't have a monthly bill. Then a link popped up that there are Special Licensure Requirements for Florida. Then I tried calling Excelsior, and they are closed. I am not going to be able to sleep tonight! I am worried now that I can't go this route! I need to know if there are any Florida Excelsior Students with these answers, am I fretting over nothing? :bluecry1: What are the Spcial Requirements for Florida!

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

I believe the special requirements only pertain to non-LPNs. I think you'll be fine!

This def. eased my mind some. I am an LPN! odd, so if they knew that I am because I sent them a copy of my license then why would they want me to call them before I enroll?

If I remember correctly, they just wanted me to send them a copy of my LPN license. That was all. :)

I too am in FL and they wouldn't let me enroll until the verified my LPN status. That is the only requirement I know of..

Specializes in geriatrics,ortho,OB,ASC,cardiac.

Florida RN here...

I was an LPN for 12 years before getting my ASN from Excelsior. I graduated in March 2007, and passed NCLEX-RN less than a month later. No problems whatsoever...with the Florida BON or with finding a job. I never regretted my decision to go the Excelsior route....and I recommend them wholeheartedly.

Congratulations and best of luck to you!!

I'm in Florida too, I guess the state requires us to have two years experience, if you are not an LPN before the state will allow you to work in Florida. No major problem, you can go out of state for a couple years. There is other states we can work in. If leaving Florida is not an option, then we can work for the government, military, VA or federal corrections. From what I understand, the VA will be opening a VA hospital here in Orlando 2010.

Me, I'm heading out to SC once I'm finished.

good luck

Steve
