Help! I was accepted to nursing school but...

I just went to the mail box and got a thick envelope from the University of Memphis. I opened it up and it says " We are pleased to inform you...." But the problem is I don't have one of the pre requisites. It's calculus and the others are classes I do not have at my current school and there are no transfer equivalents except for the calculus which I could not have taken this semester because of the prerequisites for my school. I am taking statistics this semester which is a requirement for most of the schools. Please someone tell me if you know anyway I can take this class quickly before the Spring semester gets here. yes, I'm going to call the school and see if they can make an exception and let me take it along with the nursing courses.

Do they offer it during the winter break? Good luck!

Are you positive you need it? They must have had your current transcripts for your application, and accepted you based on those. It may not be a pre-req. My school did not require calculus - just Algebra and Geometry, both of which I had 100 years ago, or thereabout (my math isn't too good! LOL) in high school.

If it is needed, maybe you just need to take it as part of your requirment for your degree, and it's not needed at any particular point.

Congrats on your acceptance!

Check w/a counselor in the nursing program to see if you really need it or to see if they will substitute another math class for it. they may let you in & require that you take it along w/nsg classes. that's if they don't have a waitng list for entrance into the nsg program. Also check w/local colleges to see if they offer calculus as a mini-term. Or the internet to see if you someone offers it as a online course. Good luck to you.

you only need 3 credits in Math so I think they mean Math 1420 or Calculus

I found out they have a second session in which

i can take Math 1420. The only thing is I would have to drive to Memphis to take it and pay 200 for the class plus the book. Memphis is 3 hours and 40 minutes away. Do you think it is worth this? Of course I know it is worth it. I am praying that I get into Austin Peay( that letter goes out today, so it should be here Saturday or Monday) then I won't have to worry abou this anymore. I also applied at 4 other schools. Should I just wait on the others or perhaps just try again fo rthe Fall at

Memphis since I got in this time or should I just make the drive?

since u r doing this math to attend this same college in Jan, and the math is ending in dec. there is no way the school can give you accomodation earlier assuming that you will still be accomodated in ?Jan and if not you can go down there and petition them to offer you temp accomodation for you take this class for now.Just a thought hope everything works out well for you.
