Help! Get an F right before transfer to an accepted Nursing school!

Published

I got an F, fail a one unit upper division class 'teaching of psychology' in the spring semester on my final transcript after I got conditionally accepted by a CSU BSN program as a transfer student. My overall GPA is still about 3.8 after that, and All my other grades are A or B. I searched online and it says college can rescind your admission if you have a D or F on the final transcript. Did I ruin my chance of getting into the nursing program? I am so worried! What should I do now? Can I still get into nursing with one F grade on my transcript?

Thats a really big deal, and only the school has the answer to that. The school will review your transcript again, and then they will make their final decision. You better have a really good reason as to why you got an F...

I got an F, fail a one unit upper division class 'teaching of psychology' in the spring semester on my final transcript after I got conditionally accepted by a CSU BSN program as a transfer student.

Why?

My overall GPA is still about 3.8 after that, and All my other grades are A or B. I searched online and it says college can rescind your admission if you have a D or F on the final transcript. Did I ruin my chance of getting into the nursing program?

We can't know that, but you did kind of answer your own question by saying that you already know they can rescind your offer based on the F.

I am so worried! What should I do now? Can I still get into nursing with one F grade on my transcript?

I'd be worried too. The only people who can answer this question with any clue of truth will be the admissions counselor at the transfer school. What you should do now? Call, ask, explain and see what they say.

Is the course you got an F in is the pre-requisite course? If so, I would assume they will look at it as if it is, let's say, an A&P, and earning an F in it will not do you any favors. But like PPs said, you should contact the school you applied to if you want a definite answer. Good luck.

What did the nursing advisor tell you?

Thanks all first! I have talked to the university admission, and they said if the course is not the math/English/oral COMM/critical thinking, and my GPA is still meet the minimum requirement 2.0, my admission should be ok!

But when I called the nursing department and told them the F grade, she said she need to talk to the director and maybe they need to resend the admission. This makes so anxious!

It is not a prerequisite course, it is a one unit elective class.

Getting admitted to the university isn't the problem, which is why the general Admissions counselor said it should not be an issue. Their job is to get you in as a transfer student, period. The nursing program, however, has its own criteria and if you are lucky you will be accepted in spite of the failure. If not, not much you can do.

Why did you get an F in a one-credit simple elective? If it was because you were blowing it off, thinking it not important, that may still hang you in the end. Depends on the mood of the program director.

Good luck and if you do still get in, take my advice and don't blow off anything again!
