First, you are going to be cutting it quite close to have permission to write the exam in June, especially if you do not even have a completed application into the BRN. It takes four to five months on average to get the ATT for CA. And then 2 1/2 weeks to wait for the results by snail mail of you are in the US, four weeks for Manila. Add into that equation that there is a retrogression in place right now; and until that issue is solved, not one thing can be done for you to remain in the US after your visa expires.

Until there are more visas there is not one thing that anyone can do to help you if you are in the US, you would be much further ahead to get processed from the Philippines.

The fingerprint card and application forms can be requested on their website. http://www.rn.ca.gov. It takes 2-4 weeks for it to arrive depending on where you are in the Philippines.

On average, it takes 4-6 months for them to process your application and eligibility to sit for the NCLEX plus you need to make your own schedule after that on a testing center you prefer and expect another 1 month delay (depending on the specific testing center) since there will be slots already occupied. Also, since we are in retrogression, there are no advantage of taking it there as oppose to taking it in HK or Saipan. You will just be forced to go home since nothing can be filed on your behalf if in the US (except I-140 but that won't permit you to work) during retrogression.

You really can't make a time-line as early as now as it depends on how fast or how slow you get your eligibility letter and that depends on their workload. If you're lucky you can get it in less than 4 months and sometimes it can also be more than 6 months.

As you have stated you are still in the process of applying for licensure for CA BON you still have a long way before you get eligible to sit for the exam. Be sure to set your scheduled departure when you already have your ATT with you and there is already visas available for nurses. This way you will not waste time and money.

If you have yet to submit your application to CA BON, most of the members here would suggest that you try a different state (VT, NM) for initial licensure and just have your license endorsed to CA.

thnx for the reply..i really apreciate it..;) actually i already have a visa..it will expire in 2009. many advised me to take nclex in U.S coz i have the advantage of having a visa and it is much easier for me to apply there. but i don't have any idea of how to process it there. im confused whether to ask help for an agency for quick processing to assist me with my nclex and to take the exam in hong kong/guam or to do it on my own and wait much longer to process. :uhoh3:nd now,i already have a fingerprint card for CA but still im confused of what step i will take..:uhoh21:

The processing is the same whether you apply for licensure in the US or in the Philippines. It is better if you apply for licesnsure while still in the Philippines and just come here when you already have your ATT. There is also a high possibility that you might not get your eligibility if you will apply for licensure here, while on your stay as a tourist.

I just want to share this with you... I went here on a tourist visa in Sept 2005 and applied for licensure at CA BON (thinking that I will be made eligible) but unfortunately went back to the Philippines before I could get the eligibility ( I was only given 3 mos of stay).

Got my eligibility on January 2006 from (CA BON). Registered at pearsonvue and got my ATT. (ATT is valid for a year)

Came back here on August 2006 took the exam on Sept. Got the result on October and a few days after that my employer petitioned me before the cut-off date.

Hope this helps...

What type of visa do you have? If it's a permanent visa - no problems but if it's just tourist/visitor's visa then nothing can be done during retrogression even if you pass NCLEX.

As you can see the poster above was only able to beat the cut-off date before retrogression w/c was Oct 31, 2006.

You can still get processed here (consular processing) and everything will commence up to packet 3.

Yes, it would be faster if you would do Adj. of Status because you can get an EAD w/c temporarily permits you to work while waiting for your Adj. of Status but during retrogression that is put on hold and we are in retrogression (Started Nov 1, 2006).
