Hello, I just passed the teas entrance exam yesterday. The next step is to write a 500 word essay stating "Why you want to be a nurse". Please, will anyone give me any suggestions or ideas on how to start my essay.

Think about your "why".
My "why" is my work experience. I've worked as a activities assistant to a care manager to a social work tech and am now a lead pharmacy technician in busy hospital. I've always loved caring for others.
Nursing is all about caring for others. Think about empathy. Think about soothing the spirit. These are just some ideas to get you going.

I agree with PP. Why do you want to be a nurse? Start from there, and the rest is cake.

It's all about why YOU want to be a nurse. What made you make that choice? What was the back story?
For me, I was in kindergarten, and my mom had just given birth to my brother. I thought the nurses had the coolest job, and I told my teacher I wanted to be a "baby nurse." It took almost 20 more years to come back around to that. I tried a few different things, but then went into the Navy, where I was a hospital corpsman, and I fell in love with patient care. I started my path toward midwifery, and just graduated with my BSN.
What's YOUR story? :)
