I always use dimensional analysis to answer med math questions.
You need to know how many tablets to administer per dose. Always start with what you're looking for on top and cancel out from there:
1 tablet x 250 mg
100 mg dose
OK, do the math and you have the answer. The milligrams cancel each other out and you are left with tablets per dose :) Make sense now?
If the question was doctor ordered 250 mg per dose and you only have 1 gm tablets on hand (makes much more sense as I've never seen a 100 GRAM pill!!!), then it would be:
1 tablet x 1 gm x 250 mg
1 gm 1000 mg dose
Again, gm & mg cancel out, so you're left with tablets per dose. I'll let you do the math to see how the answer changes based on what you have on-hand
ETA: the formatting changed when I posted. You'll need to align the fractions so they line up properly. Won't let me do it in this editor.

how many tablets should the patient receive if the provider ordered 250mg and each tablet contains 100 gm?
