HELP! CPNE peds question?

Hello. I have heard that not everyone gets a baby for their peds pt during CPNE. Is this true? Im not worried about getting a 5 yr old or older, but I am frightened about getting a baby!!! How often do students get babies???? If you have taken the CPNE, did you have a baby?

Syracuse NY site has peds. Day one of CPNE is at one hospital, day 2 was at another that had peds. The 3 of us left that had not failed out yet got the following; pre-teen s/p appy, toddler rsv and the luck of the draw went to me, 5 month old with multiple cancerous tumors on liver and I had to do abdominal assessment, resp assess, apical (tap your foot to count hr) and I forget what else. That was in Feb 2009. I passed that peds PCS but failed the CPNE for other reasons.

Albany, NY, St. Pete's in MAY 2009, passed CPNE. Peds pt was 79 yo male in respiratory distress s/p CABG. Passed.

Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs NY rarely has peds patients.

Amarillo has peds. I had an 8 y/o boy who wouldn't stop playing video games!! Aghh! If I remember correctly, I made that a comfort measure. :smokin:

What it is that you do in the cpne that is on a real pt and what do you do that is in the lab?
