Help with Compass for Holmes LPN

Published

I received my letter today with the date for taking the Compass test for the LPN program at Holmes. I really don't know what to expect. I have heard people say it is a basic skills test, but I am still freaking out. I guess I am most worried about the Math. Can anyone that has taken it please tell me how hard the math is? I am sure it has plenty of Algebra, fractions and percents, but I am not sure what else. Please, help me if you can. I have to take it May 17.

Which campus are you applying at? I took the Compass when I entered Holmes in 08. It is pretty basic math, english, and reading. Try these links to help. https://allnurses.com/ms-nursing-programs/help-compass-holmes-476099.html

I have to take it on May 17 too. Are you taking it in Goodman? I am worried about it also. I hear that it is basic skills and then I look on practice sites and it says Geometry and Trig.

Please tell me that the last link you posted is what the test is really like. I hope so. That makes me feel much better!!!:D

Jg24 I am also looking for help with the compass I printed the pages from the link and they seem to be easy.. I hope we get in.. Keep in touch and let me know how things go!!!! :)

There are a few hard math questions. Maybe 5. But the rest is not all that difficult. I only went through the 9th grade. Got a GED in '99 and I had no schooling until after I took the Compass and I did very well. You will do fine!

Thanks u made me feel alot better! I will study some fractions and percentage problems..

here is a great site with problems and they tell you how to work them. http://www.highlands.edu/wcotter/COMPASS/math_practice.htm

has anyone gotten a letter to take the test from the Ridgeland campus?

Jg24 have u heard of any other people applying to the goodman campus for lpn.. So far I have only heard of people going to the ridgeland and grenada campus, hopefully we will have a better chance of getting into the program..

I haven't heard of any. I did read a post on here about someone taking the Compass the same day as me. I asked if they applied to the Goodman campus, but haven't gotten a reply yet. Did you get a letter yet?

Can anyone tell me how the Compass is scored? Do you get scores for each section and then an overall score or do they just go by an overall score? What is considered a great score? Is there anyone that got in the program that would share their score with us?
