Ok, So I'm from Massachusetts and will be leaving to go to California in a couple of weeks to start a job. I already have my Mass license and need endorsement in California, I was planning on just showing up in Sacramento because you can apparently get a temp one on the spot. So I pretty much need everything to work out perfectly or else I'm screwed.
I just got my fingerprints done today on the ink cards, but the guy used the livescan process and printed them onto the cards, is this going to matter? Also, in the hair color/eye color field he didnt use the correct abbreviations. I'm not sure how picky they are with any of this but like I said I need everything to be perfect. I already ordered another set of cards just in case so hopefully they get here in time.
Any info about the temp. application process will be helpful!!
Thank you!

I endorsed my RN and NP License from Michigan to California. This state seems to take longer to process any nursing application. I didn't use Livescan (Michigan does not participate in it) but even finding a service with accredited fingerprinting service from law enforcement entities was hard. I don't remember getting much communication from the BON - just an initial letter of what they've received and what they still need. I called one other time to follow up, got a person on the line, but didn't really get a sense of where my application was in the process. I don't know what delayed my licenses, either my foreign undergrad BSN or the fact that I'm endorsing for 2 separate licenses (RN and NP) but the whole process took over 4 months. I didn't apply for a job here in California until I received the licenses in the mail and I didn't move until I received an offer of employment. The transition was hard enough looking for a place to live and familiarizing myself with different regulations surrounding my practice as an NP.
Thank you for replying to my thread. BON recieved my prints on Nov16/09 and they told me it takes 2to 3 weeks to recieve them. I have been calling them quite often and it has been 4 weeks now. All I hear from them is wait and hang in tight. I am in a panic mood as I am suppose to start my job in the first week of January. I am applying from Minnesota to Texas.
Anyone with advice and plan of action will be appreciated.
thank again

Amazing that it takes so long when this is the fastest way to get nurses into a state with a shortage

You can get a temporary license on the spot? I thought you need your fingerprint processed by the CA BON first. See http://www.rn.ca.gov/pdfs/applicants/tlcounter.pdf or clarify please. I am trying to apply for endorsement from Hawaii. I want to do live scan but they dont offer it here. I dont want to be waiting forever for an ink fingerprint. 2+ months is a long wait!
