Medical Mission Trip
Hi all! I know this might not be pertinant to this topic, but I'm an RN in a Trauma/Surgical ICU at a level one trauma center. I've been interested in doing a medical mission trip for a while, and it would be great to do one that would utilize some of my skills. But really I'd be happy with anything. Has anyone done a mission trip and have any suggestions on good organizations to go through? Not even sure where to start.

Help!! Cali fingerprints!
Ok, So I'm from Massachusetts and will be leaving to go to California in a couple of weeks to start a job. I already have my Mass license and need endorsement in California, I was planning on just showing up in Sacramento because you can apparently get a temp one on the spot. So I pretty much need everything to work out perfectly or else I'm screwed. I just got my fingerprints done today on the ink cards, but the guy used the livescan process and printed them onto the cards, is this going to matter? Also, in the hair color/eye color field he didnt use the correct abbreviations. I'm not sure how picky they are with any of this but like I said I need everything to be perfect. I already ordered another set of cards just in case so hopefully they get here in time. Any info about the temp. application process will be helpful!! Thank you!

Cedars-Sinai New Grad Summer 09
Rnsofy, Yea, I havent done much planning with the whole moving thing yet because I didnt want to think about it until I passed my boards. So yea I guess now its time. I'll be roadtripping from Massachusetts and really dont plan on bringing anything but my car and a rooftop bag strapped to the top. Shipping furniture is just as expensive if not more then just getting stuff there. What do you have planned for the move? Where are you coming from again? Cant wait to get started :)

RNSofy and Oceanbreezee, Yay, congrats!! It is so nice to have found others who will be starting with me. I would love to hear more about the place you have because looking for housing is so overwhelming and it would definitely be nice to live with others in the same boat as me. Hopefully I'll hear from you soon. -Christina

Aside from the degree and GPA, I think a lot of what might have helped me was my work experience. I have been working as an aide at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston which is very similar and comparable to Cedars Sinai.

Hey!! I was just offered a position yesterday for the August 17th start date. I'm from Massachusetts and just graduated from Umass Amherst with my BSN. I dont know anyone from LA and would love to hear of anyone else moving from out of state. If anyone has any advice on the best places to live that would be helpful! Also, if anyone is looking for a roomate let me know. I know there is alot of stuff on craigslist, but it might be nice living with someone in the program. Good luck to everyone, it sounds like there will be a good amount of positions offered! -Christina
