That's too bad some people are like that...but please don't be...DONE. I just registered/signed I today. I'm Sunny- and I am in tears over drug calculations. the HESI online homework won't let me advance until I figure this out.The health care provider's prescriptions include stat oxytocin 10 units in each liter of normal saline to infuse at 40 milliunits (mU)/minute. Vial is labeled 10 units/ml.
10 units in each liter of NS to infuse at 40 milliunits (mU)/minute.
What is the flow rate needed to deliver 40 mU/minute? (Enter numerical value only. If rounding is necessary, round to the whole number.)
Please anyone...can you help teach me this. I'm 60 miles away from the nearest campus with a dead line hanging over my head. can't raise the teachers on the weekend and nowhere to turn.

I would start your own thread in the Nurse Student Assistance forum rather than responding to someone else's post with a question like this. You'll have a better response.
Use the formulas and do the math -- members will be happy to check your math and/or offer assistance if you get stuck at any specific level. Best of luck.
STEP 1
CONVERT GIVEN UNITS TO MILLIUNITS
1U/1000milliunits = 10U/X
X= ? mu
STEP 2
CALCULATE HOW MANY MILLIUNITS ARE IN 1ML
1,000 ML/step 1 answer = 1ML/x
X = ? mu/mL
STEP 3
DETERMINE HOW MANY ML IS NEEDED TO OBTAIN 40 MILLIUNITSS.
Step 2 Answer/1mL = 40 MILLIUNITS/X
X = ? mL
STEP 4
FIGURE OUT THE HOURLY RATE
1MIN/Step 3 Answer = 60 MIN/X
X = mL/hr
