hi everyone. i have basically completed all my classes besides retaking stats which i got a d because i was an hr late to the final because i got in a car accident. anyways it dropped my gpa from a 3.0 to a 2.5. i already got accepted in a nursing program but i am on the waitlist and i wont start until Fall 2013. i started towards my bsn at a 4 yr uni then transferred to a 2 yr. because my mom made me. im just so upset that my gpa dropped so low. all i have left is nursing classes. i basically have no more classes to take besides sociology and stats i have all my classes heading towards my bsn besides my rn. I dont know what to do for a whole year and half with no classes. any suggestions that will help me. i feel like i havent accomplished anything and my life is on stand by. :(

I would work on taking some easier classes to bring your GPA up plus some classes that will help you inthe future. For example, have you taken Spanish? With so many Spanish speaking people in the US, it would be a great asset for a nurse to have. Also what about psychology? Child Psych is interesting and helpful for pediatric nursing....Also you could take some nutrition courses, child studies, etc. Most of those are fairly easy and the knowledge will help with nursing school.

. . .because my mom made me
Ultimately, it's your life. I know that parents are powerful influences, but I must be honest and say that I felt a huge weight being lifted off my shoulders at the very moment I moved out of my parents' house. You, as the young adult, should be the one who makes the decisions regarding how your life and career will proceed.
Anyhow, is there a chance you could take stats one more time and do well in it? How about taking a science elective such as pathophysiology, genetics, or something that is pertinent to healthcare? How about taking a medical terminology course to boost your GPA?

Regarding the GPA, at most schools when you retake a class, the original grade will still show up on your transcript, but the retake grade is what gets computed into your GPA.
SO with that said, I suggest that you take Stats by itself in the fall and make sure that you get a good grade to replace your existing "D". Then take sociology in the spring. You can also get a job and start saving up money so you don't have to worry about finances while you are in school. Or if you do not want to get a job, you could start volunteering at a hospital. Never too soon to start networking!!!

Get a CNA job at the hospital. This will help you IMMENSELY in your job search when you graduate.

Finish up the classes you need, I agree with Katie71275 in that you can take additional classes to help raise your GPA and also should consider Spanish since it is very helpful in many areas. If you are still looking for stuff to do, try volunteering at a hospital and/or taking a CNA class so you could try getting a hospital job and then work experience.
thank you everyone for your replies. I have taken med term, ive thought about taking patho, ive taken spanish and psy already. i have completed ball my gen ed classes.i have taken micro, organic, human development. i was thinking of taking stats again this summer but summer schoool is 9 week course who it be too much? child psychology sounds interesting. i have to take dosage calc. i already work as a CNA but with a blind boy.
