Hello from the new girl!!

Published

Hi all, I have just discovered this web site, bloody fantastic!! I am a E grade in A&E and have just started my US application procedure. Have just filled our the millions of forms and hoping to sit my nclex in three months. I have some questions I hope some of you can help me with..... Has anyone gone with OGP? Are they pretty good? (seem efficient enough at this early stage!), How is the nclex? I have years of A&E experience, think I will trip up on the other area questions! Have any of you travelled to the US with family? I am planning to go with my husband and two kids aged 9 and 2 years! How do you pick a region as you preferance? I have only ever visited Florida, so we are picking out of thin air! So many questions! Hope someone will answer me! Cheers, Jane. xx:uhoh3:

Once you have a green card nobody can take it away from you only the Government if you have been a naughty person and committed crimes. It is yours to go to US and do what you want. OGP or any other agency cannot remove the green card from you but they can sue you for breech of contract and that can be very expensive.

I am with OGP and have very little problems but I see OGP as my means to the green card and the 20 months I will work for them a small price to pay. Remember who ever you go with there will be pro's and con's. as for being dumped in Arizona, they had a choice and there are lots of people on here who choose to go there to live. I am happy with Arizona and in 20 months time if I hate it then there are 49 other states to move to.

It has taken me 10 months from passing NCLEX to my green card interview which is next week. Not bad going hey. How can I complain?

If you want to PM me with questions re OGP etc feel free to do so.

Some hospitals will tie you to a 3 year contract for helping you get to US sso in my mind 20 months unhappiness is better than 3 yrs, of course it may be great.

I am also with OGP and have been satisfied from the beginning to the end....my contract with them ends on december the 31st, so I can now take my green cards my skills and get a job anywhere we want to go.

the biggest drawback with them is that you go where they have placements so it may not be the area or the hospital that you want to go to, but you choose after your contract ends.

we were 'dumped' in st croix in the carribean for 18 months, didnt know anything about here before we came, but then we dont know anything about the other 52 states or their hospitals anyway.

I say each to their own, if you want to go your own way then carry on and if we are happy with OGP then so be it.

off to the beach now, to swim in the warm turquoise carribean sea.....poor little me for getting 'dumped here'.

oh and by the way I have earned a lot more than I did back in the uk for the same 18 months work. life is what you make it.

HI Jane! Great to see another ER (A&E) nurse aboard. I'm from the US looking for A&E in UK. I've been working in ER's (including a level 1 trauma center) for 12 years as a technician, and after graduating nursing this past year, have landed a job in a level 2 trauma center as a staff nurse. There's plenty of trauma centers across the country with nursing shortages across the board, so finding placement shouldn't be all that hard.

As for your other questions:

1. NCLEX exam is a bugger (will be glad to give you pointers).

2. Will be happy to help with locations as much as I can (it's a big place).

3. Sorry, know nowt about green cards or OGP.

4. We both have similar interests and experience that may benefit each other.

Check my profile for email and/or messeging, and feel free to contact me anytime (as not to clog the forums too much). Happy hunting.
