Hi everyone,
Just signed up. I graduated in May 2006, already have a job in labor and delivery, due to take the NCLEX on July 24th. What are the most recent tests focusing on? I have heard a lot of triage, prioritizing, and delegation. Any input??

welcome to allnurses.com! i moved your post to the nclex forum for more responses.
to be honest, the nclex test varies from person to person, so the test i got will differ from what you will get.
good luck!

And SueBird is right. The NCLEX is different person to person, but the concensus seems to have gotten a lot of priority, delegation and infection control as questions. Knowing your disease processes and which are respiratory vs. droplet, what patients can and can't be put together. Remember your ABC's. I know a lot of people who got a question where someone was having an airway problem and someone was bleeding heavily and which patient to you see first? A will come before C even if both seems really severe. I know I spent time knowing my electrolyes, renal and endocrine for nothing, but was glad that I spent 5 minutes on hepatitis. Just try to skim a little bit of everything. You know the material. You spent the last 2 years learning it and your knowledge was good enough to graduate. Just keep that knowledge refreshed and you'll be fine! :w00t:
thanks for the advice. I actually was in an accelerated nursing program (only 9 months). I have a degree in speech pathology already and decided to do nursing. I finished with a 3.8 in nursing school and felt pretty confident the whole way through. I took the Hurst review and have been reading through Saunders and doing all of the questions. Na, K, Mg, Ca, Phosphorus- giving me problems on what to expect as far as hypo and hyper, hope not to encounter too many of those!!!!!. I think the who to see first is definitely instilled in my brain, any books out there dealing specifically with those questions?? Thanks for the input, hoping for the best.
I made a little chart (last minte the night before the nclex!) about the Ca, K, Mg, Phos and hyper/hypo. I studied it up, down and sideways and didn't need one bit of information from it.
And the Saunders questions are good. If you have the CD that comes with it - there's great questions on it.
