i checked patients apical heart rate two times just to make sure i didnt make any mistake with counting and both times i had heart rate of 46. patient is not symtomatic, her blood pressure was normal. how can patient's heart rate be that low and not be symtomatic?
My husband just had a procedure last week. His pre-op workup showed sinus brady (47bpm). In recovery, he was between 36 - 45. He's not athletic, but he is on a beta-blocker. He's otherwise asymptomatic.
Last March, he was hospitalized with MI-like symptoms. Spent the weekend in the hospital in SB with bigeminy with runs of trigeminy. Converted to SR (still bradycardic 50-60) on Monday am.
individuals who abuse cocaine also have asymptomatic brady, particularly after coming off the drug after a binge
Doubt that the gomere is abusing nose candy or smoking crack. Probably has SA node disease,a decent stroke volume, and one hell of a high afterload. Pipes of steal. CO= HR x SV. BP= CO X SVR. Is she a patient who could code at any time? Sure, what 80 year old isn't. She will be showing positive for the ominous O sign soon to be followed up with the bag zipping Q sign in no time.
