I've never really heard much about it, but I have heard that LIU in itself is a good school?? is this true? please tell me what you know about the nursing program. how difficult is it to get into?

Im comming from Houston...I look foward to the challange of nursing school! despite the negative things I heard about LIU, like life its what you make of it and only the strong will survive.

I just got accepted into the LIU 15-month accelerated nursing program! I'm getting a little bit nervous though reading all of these negative comments. I am considering LIU as my backup school at the moment but it seems harder than I thought it would be :(

I'm from Houston, TX and I have a GPA 1.1 in one school and 3.0 on the other school. I took two classes and failed one of them and made a C on Microbiology, hence the 1.1

I'm thinking of just sending the transcript from the one school, since they don't require Microbiology as a pre-req for the program. As far as HESI goes, I did really well and scored an 89% on the anatomy section. I used this website called "ReadyForTheHESI"

Anyway, do you think it's worth it to apply? I just want to start already and stop wasting time and reapplying.

lifeflightnurse, LIU does require Microbiology for acceptance into the program so unfortunately you would have to send that transcript. Also they make you take the HESI once you get accepted. The initial HESI is extremely easy because they only score certain portions and the sciences aren't even graded, so you don't need to stress that portion. It may still be worth it to apply because they require a 2.7 cumulative gpa and they do accept a lot of students. It really is an easy school to get into but it is hard to make it out. I'm currently in the part-time evening and weekend program at LIU and it is very challenging especially with a full-time job, but it is do-able with a lot of discipline. Good luck

Hi! I am in my last semester of completing my pre reqs for LIU's nursing program. I wanted to know if anyone can fill me in on information that I can't seem to receive. For instance, after I take the Hesi A2 exam will I be told when the orientation will take place? How to apply for classes for fall' 12? Where to retrieve forms for clinical clearance? I applied for the program and I got an email that stated I was accepted. This leads me to ask if are there any other steps I need to do before I start the program in the fall. I'm super confused and hope someone can help and guide me to the right direction. Please and Thank you tons in advance!!

Recycled, I just got accepted into the accelerated program starting in June. I was wondering if you took the HESI exam yet?

Can anyone give me information on the accelerated program?

Are letters of recommendation required? Is it ok to apply for it before all of my prereq's are finished just as long as they are done before the semester starts? Also, how many people are accepted to the accelerated program per year?

I am hoping to apply next year..

I recently got accepted into the accelerated program for LIU. You do need one letter of recommendation that is required from a present or previous work place. They accept students on rolling admission so there is no program deadline. They will give you a decision once they have received all required documents and transcripts. I am not sure how many people they accept into the program but when I met with an advisor she said its not that many. So I was thinking that they could accept more than like 100. When I do find out I will let you know. You can apply before all your classes are finished but you should have almost all of your pre-requisites finished. If you are applying for June 2013 I would send your application in October or November because it takes about two months to receive a decesion.

Feel free to join the group on Facebook if you are already accepted for the 15 month program @ LIU starting 2012.

Good Luck!

Hello All,

Recently got accepted into LIU for Fall 2012 ( professional phase I already have a BS in Biology) Taking my HESI A2 in June so I will be able to register for classes. Can anyone tell me what to expect during my time at LIU. Was anyone able to work during the program. How are clinicals? How generous is LIU about loans?? any information will be very helpful.
