Bad and poor.

I second the above poster........ :o

I've been traveling with American Mobile for a year now. What can I say? I've traveled with 3 other agencies, and have tried recently to get an assignment with a fourth. My "recruiter" at Cross Country doesn't return my calls, and I haven't even taken an assignment with them yet. If they don't return them now, and I have trouble on an assignment, it's likely that I'll not get a call back THEN, either. Gee. I don't think I'll be taking an assignment with them after all.

2 other companies (both large names) were worse. One small company was better, but they have fewer available assignments for me. All-in-all, if you get a good recruiter at AMN, they are a pretty good company to work for. At least they call you back. The pay rates vary per assignment, and per company, but I'll take a few dollars less to have a great recruiter (D.P.), who listens to my concerns and works with me to get what I want for an assignment. The housing is mostly good, and I pay a little extra for private housing, but it's worth it to me just to have someone support me when I'm out at the facility working hard. -Hope, RN

What's your speciality? I've been traveling for almost 3 years. I'd never ever pay for private housing.

These large companies are multi million dollar conglomerates. They can afford private housing for you.

Many of the smaller independent companies have lots of assignements now or they can market you.

I'd shop around.

P.S. I've never had a recruiter pay my bills yet.. :rotfl:

Specializes in forensic psych, corrections.

I have a close friend who traveled with AMN and she has nothing but good things to say about them. She's a PACU nurse.

I've never been a traveler. Don't plan to start. Good luck to you, though!

I don't pay for private housing with my agency. In fact, I just took a virtual tour of the private apt I will be occupying for my next assignment- Master suite, 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, washer/dryer, phone, cable TV, fireplace, utilities, linens/dishes, furniture, etc provided and paid for by my agency. The pay is great, and my recruiter is very nice, too.

I've gotten calls from lots other agencies- including American Mobile. they offered me $16.00 per hr less than I am getting now, for a nearly identical assignment.

who are you with? they sound good!!!! :)

I travelled with AMN for 2 years and I regret it. I went with them when I first became a travel rn because they were in all the magazines and seemed to be the most popular. Every time I took an assignment, if I wanted to extend the pay got decreased by 0.50 - $1.00 per hour. I am sorry but you can't tell me the facility is doing that. Once I started talking to other travelers I realized I was getting a bad deal. Now I work for a company that has FREE private housing w/ linens, cable, phone, appliances, pots and pans, rental car, and airfare all included, plus $30 - 35 / hour every contract. Sorry, AMN can't even come close to that. Plus when I working for them I didn't even know they didn't provide long or short term disability. Now I make sure any company I goes with has that. AMN is too big of a company to be so cheap. They are getting 3x's what you are and still wanna pay crappy while nurses work like dogs. LOL. Like I said before, I really wish I would have know a traveler to ask questions to before I started.

Geez who do you travel with? They do sound wonderful.

I sent you the info via private Message :)
