Hey guys, so I found out I got accepted into nursing school in April. I officially start in August but I got pregnant unexpectedly. In my program they require us students to do titer blood tests and it must be positive or if not you'll have to get a dose of the shot to be considered compliant with your health. I found out my immune status was low for Rubella, and you can't receive that shot while pregnant. I'm nervous that I won't get to continue the program and will have to sit out for the semester which I really don't want to do. For those of you that has got through similar situation, did your school allow you to continue regarding the restriction?? Can I have my ob Dr write a note for my health restrictions?? Thanks in advance!

Sorry to say but will probably be a tough sell.. most of the requirements are those of the clinical sites that you will be in and not of the program alone... best best is to reach out to the program ASAP for a specific answer. At worst they may defer you enrollment by a semester..
Best of luck.

Talk to your program. No one on a message board can answer whether a school will let you continue.

I was only asking if anyones' gone thru a similar situation, but thanks for your input anyway, I had already had clarification from my school

I was allowed to attend class while pregnant with my doctors note as to why I could not recieve the vaccine, I just was not able to participate in clinicals at the hospital. But as soon as I delivered I was able to recieve the immunization I needed. BEST OF LUCK!
