HCC Pharma registration Question

Published

hello

anybody out there registering for houston comm college pharma this summer?

have you emailed the secretary yet?

i just feel weird because i emailed her today and she said the registration was postponed but she said she will email me in a few weeks and since i passed the HESI, i will be able to enroll....the thing is my friend said she was able to contact the secretary and was able to choose a schedule......so i emailed her again and she said that my friend was not telling the the truth because nobody has chosen any class yet...

so if there are guys out here who are going to hcc pharmacology class this summer, please let me know.....

thank you

Unfortunatly, I cannot answer your question since I am not at the point of registering for Pharmacology yet, but I was wondering if you could give me any study advice for the HESI. My fear is the math section since it's my weakest subject.

I did attend the HCC Nursing orientation recently and they told the class that there were no more HESI test sessions left and that they may offer one in May and to sign - up for the waitlist :o I did not sign up that day although I am eligible but I figured I would wait, complete 2 more classes this summer and prepare for the HESI. Hopefully I will be fully prepared once I do submit an application.

Good Luck with getting in Pharmacology!

i took the HESI in March, and i can tell you from my experience that it was easy....considering i hated math too....but if you have the HESI reviewer, it will probably help you ( i know it did for me)because that is the only book that i reviewed. but you have to really know fractions, household measurements and your decimals too...

Heads up-Mary Clark (the secretary) has a huge chip on her shoulder and is the most undesirable person I have ever run across. She is one of the reasons I chose not to attend HCC. The whole staff is kind of like her from what I have seen. Keep on her. Let her know she granted permission to a fellow classmate, and she might actually let you register at that time. That is what I had to do regarding Pharm.

hahaha i think i read your post before regarding hcc, and how much you "hated" it....am i correct? but the thing for me is, i started all my pre reqs there and as much as i want to change school, i hate taking entrance exam...i am just not good at it. but i take it you are at Cy Fair, can you provide me some info on how to get in? or what else i need to do....i want to transfer to san jac but i know i cannot have a high ACT so i could not get in....i can do nursing math but not the ACT, ghow weird is that?!

but anyway, hope you can provide some light...

thanks

I know when I was looking into attending there (about a year/two years ago) you had to have proof that you took the ACT/SAT...so unless that has changed, I don't think it is different there than it is anywhere else. You might want to look into that and make sure. NHMCCD makes sure you have taken the ACT, then you have to take the HESI (only two sections, though compared to four I think at HCC). Also, you don't have to retake the ACT/SAT everytime you apply to a school. I took it back in 1990 when I was applying to UT Austin, and they used that 15 years later when I was apply to nursing programs.

I emailed the secretary also and she told me the same thing. She said it was post poned because they are trying to offer pharmacology at other campuses. I'm not so sure if I can depend on them emailing me back though, so I'm just going to keep checking every week.

so i guess we should just be waiting, classes starts in june 4 so we need to watch out. secretary also told me that i do not need to email her but she will email me if registration is underway. but you know what, just to make sure, i am currently applying to san jac as well. it is better to have some plan b....

i forgot to ask you,,, didn't you just posted that you got in at Cy-Fair? i mean i am just curious as to why you are waiting for pharmacology at HCC. ;)

Yes, I did get accepted into cyfair for fall...but I wanted to take pharmacology in the summer since I already passed the hesi with hcc. If I take pharmacology with hcc and I pass I can just transfer that credit or go to HCC instead because it is closer. But if I dont do so well in the class at least i gain some knowledge on the subject. I'm just trying to keep my options open.

The only way HCC's pharmacology will transfer to Cy Fair is if you take the pharm exit exam at Cy-Fair and pass with a certain score. If you don't get that score (I'm not sure what it is), then it will not transfer. There are several people in my class right now that took Pharm at HCC and passed but are choosing to take it again at Cy Fair.
