Hi!
Has anyone applied to the ADN program at HCC Coleman for Spring 2017?
I dropped mine off last week.
I have had plans to attend this program for many years and took my time completing my pre-req's to time my entrance with when my youngest turned 16 ( and got her license
now im worried about the possibility they will not be able to seat a class.
HCCS website (under News Update ) :
From April to August, applications were accepted. Now, the vote from the TBON confirms the enrollment of more than 50 new students starting in the Spring 2017 Semester.
A new state-of-the art, 248,000 square foot facility will soon open across the street from the current Coleman campus, which is located in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. The new facility will expand the teaching and training space of the nursing program as well as the additional 20 health care careers offered in the Health Sciences Center of Excellence.

cjmom1209 THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! Will you for sure be doing the HCC ADN program in January? HCC was my first choice but I was hesitant after all this BON stuff and so I was going to wait on Alvin to see if I got accepted there but I'd much rather go to HCC because it's closer and I'll graduate sooner! I'm so excited! I appreciate you updating us! I think we should start a fb group for those who will be enrolling in the HCC ADN program starting in January. I'm patiently awaiting the email but I'm going to check out the HCC website now!
News Update from HCCS website :
We are very pleased at the outcome of the recent NCLEX,†said Dr. Phillip Nicotera, President, HCC Coleman College. We have every confidence that HCC will provide the Greater Houston Area with highly qualified nursing professionals.â€
Construction is underway for a new 10-story building across the street from the existing campus in the heart of the Texas Medical Center, which will more than double its size. The new facility will offer 248,000 additional square feet of classrooms. There will be expanded space for the current nursing program, plus space for new partnerships for students to earn a Baccalaureate in Nursing degree, and additional simulation space for other healthcare fields. The building is scheduled to open in August 2017.
Hi, everyone,
This is the email I have just received from Coleman adviser:
Good Afternoon,
We are thrilled to announce that the Texas Board of Nursing has reinstated the HCC Coleman ADN to full accreditation status. To see the official press release, please click here. This means that pending your document submission through CastleBranch and attendance at the upcoming Orientations in December, you will be permitted to enroll in the ADN Spring 2017 cohort.
As a reminder, please plan to attend the Nursing Program orientation on Monday, December 14th, from 9am – 5pm. More information about the Student Services Orientation will be sent out in the next few weeks.

It is official!!! Yay! Update is on HCCS website. It states :
The Texas Board of Nursing (TBON) voted to reinstate the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program at Houston Community College (HCC).
Today we celebrate the great work of HCC staff and faculty who, through hard work, long hours and a love for the profession, provide an example of excellence in the medical field,†said Dr. Cesar Maldonado, HCC chancellor.
In January, the TBON moved the program to conditional†status, after less than 80 percent of students passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).
Measures for improvement were taken to achieve the benchmark. They included one-on-one tutorials with students and improved assessment techniques to measure candidates' level of knowledge before starting the program. As a result, student pass rates increased over three consecutive years.
We were confident that changes made to the program would translate into significant improvement,†said Dr. Phillip Nicotera, president, HCC Coleman College for Health Sciences.
