Hi!
Has anyone applied to the ADN program at HCC Coleman for Spring 2017?
I dropped mine off last week.
I have had plans to attend this program for many years and took my time completing my pre-req's to time my entrance with when my youngest turned 16 ( and got her license
now im worried about the possibility they will not be able to seat a class.
Yes, I have the recommended courses completed as well with A's in all except for A&P II. I messed up that semester because I had some major negative life circumstances and barely scraped by with a C. But otherwise both Developmental Psych and Humanities I have "A''s in. I applied to Prairie View , UTHSC , and HBU. Basically anyone that picks me up at this point for spring, I would be thankful and grateful for the opportunity. Although, an immediate BSN program would be ideal, I have no qualms doing the ADN coursework and bridging to a BSN and then MSN in the future as nursing is my passion and interest. To be honest though, with an overall 3.5 GPA I was denied from UST nursing program for fall and I am really worried about all of them considering my experience so far.
Oh, and same deal for me. I did not apply to TWU because they wanted a Women's studies course and I am not adding that onto my already full time fall schedule just to apply to one institution. Plus, I think they want the TEAS as the entrance exam and because all of my preparation and testing has gone toward the HESI, I do not want to have to go that route unless it is absolutely necessary. But anywho, best of luck to you and your endeavors. Houston has a lot of options for nursing in general and I am sure the committed and passionate applicants will get the chance and opportunity at the right time!!!
I'm not sure how I feel about the deadline being pushed back. UTHSC did the same thing, pushing it back to Sept. 1. I worked hard making sure that I had everything complete, and took my HESI earlier than I had preferred, just to ensure I had my applications in early. If a person was serious about applying, shouldn't they have already done so?
I do hope that this is a good sign! There are two more months of testing to go though.....all exams taken thru Sept 30th count towards their pass rate.
So the deadline has come and gone... I just recieved an email stating that after careful review of my application, I have been selected to move to the next step of the application process. I have till 09/15/16 to submit my letter of intent. I also have to complete my immunizations, get a cpr card, a physical, background check and drug test by 11/16/16. It still states the final decision will be made after the nclex results though. I guess this is a good sign. Anyone else recieved an email?
Yes!!!! I got that email also :)
I plan on accepting the seat. I still have an application in for UTHSC, but they have a notification date of Nov. 15th (even though in years past, they started notifications as early as mid-October)
I am soooooo hoping that the graduates who are taking the NCLEX are doing good! I will think extra special thoughts for all of them that are going to take it this month!
I was surprised when the email came today....I wasn't expecting it so soon......
So, have you started all of your immunizations yet? I started the Hep B series, but have only gotten the first two shots. I am scheduled to get the 3rd one in the middle of December. I hope that isn't a problem.
I plan to go get my titers soon so I can make sure I have immunity to chicken pox and MMR.
Where do we go to get the Healthcare provider CPR? and the BON clearance?
I am so excited, but nervous about all they want from us. There is not a lot of details in the email.

from what I have heard they do a point system, but I am not sure what the total possible is.
You get points for your pre-req GPA, but you get a point taken away for each retaken course. I have a B in my English 1301 (taken years ago, when I was young and didn't know better....) I asked if I should take it again to get an A, and the advisor suggested that I don't, since I would gain the point for the A, but lose a point for the retake....
I do know that if you have the "Academic courses" they have listed on their application you get extra points. Those courses are: A&P 2, Human Growth and Development, and Humanities/Fine arts elective.
What BSN programs are you applying to? I have applied to UTHSC-Houston. I wanted to apply to TWU, but I am missing a pre-req required to apply, I wouldn't have it by application date, and it is needed to apply.
