HCA New Grad Program (StaRN) at Kendall Regional (Miami, FL)

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi Everyone!

I just got accepted into the New Graduate RN program at Kendall Regional and wanted to know if anyone else has done this program and your experiences (good, bad ect). Also, any advice???? I'm super nervous!!!

Thanks! :)

I didn't hear back from the StaRN coordinator, not Kendall another hospital, until 1 week before I was I intended to start.

Is there a dress code for the program?

Not sure about Kendall but at my StaRN program which included mercy and 12 other hospitals no dress code was required only scrubs.

Sugar12, thank you for your responses :)

Hey guys check your emails! Our coordinator emailed us some documents to sign and take care of! :)

To those who already completed the program, it was only for 6 weeks correct? At a lower pay rate and then you're transferred over to the hospital they place you in for a normal pay rate? I'm just looking at the contract right now and trying to figure everything out. Would really appreciate the feedback

13 weeks total at a lower rate, then after 13 weeks you switch over to the hospital pay roll and receive whatever Hr told you about your starting pay. 6 0r 7 weeks classroom and then 6 or 7 weeks on the floor training depending on if you are ICU or med surg/tele. The contract I was told does not bound me to the same floor for 2 years I can move as I want to ER icu or wherever within the hospital. Be sure to ask that question so you will know. Also I was told usually it's not a problem to transfer to another HCA facility if you move. HCA invested in you so as long as you stay with them for the duration of your contract you are okay. Make sure you check those small details. Feel free to ask any other questions

Anyone gotten an email regarding orientation info?

Nope, I only received the pre-employment information....Did you receive the drug testing email?

No? I only received the pre-employment stuff and the contract. Nothing regarding the drug test, background check, or info about our first day :/

Ok, I sent all my documents and was having some issues with docusign, but hopefully everything is fine....I hope we get some thing by this week. The only thing I know is to meet them at mercy hospital by 8am and make sure to bring a laptop.

Yeah that's what Ellen told me too and that it's business casual attire. Let's hope they start sending stuff soon so we don't have to rush through things

Just an FYI in case it hasn't been mentioned - the StaRN positions have been posted again for HCA. I seen it listed on Indeed.com. I was looking in Florida and seen it listed for Largo Medical Center but it said it is for all regional HCA hospitals.
