hello everyone!
I got a call today from a nurse recruiter for the HCA corporation to interview for a job at a HCA hospital in Florida. Has anyone in the IPN program been employed with HCA while in the IPN program? the nurse recruiter just asked basic questions. I didn't reveal my IPN involvement to her, but will when the nurse manager interviews me, of course. I just want to get past H.R. she said she will pass my info to the unit manager and she will call to set up an interview. I also told her I wanted to do the interview in person. hopefully, I get this job...... not sure how much longer I can stay in the IPN program financially. it's killing me. I have credit cards with balances creeping up...... PLEASE GOD I NEED THIS JOB. I HAVE SUFFERED ENOUGH!
anyone out there with HCA and IPN experience? :)
My experience (at least in Florida) is that HCA turns thier noses up at us poor schmucks with the scarlet letters of IPN tattooed on us. As far as a past DWI, without this horrible hemorrhoid attached I don't know. I interviewed at one HMA facility for the perfect job (chance to break into case management too!) and opted to not disclose the contract until after after an offer on the opinion that there was no direct clinical patient care, soooo.....I got the offer, complete with salary agreement signed sealed and delivered which was promptly rescinded upon them learning of the contract. So much for that angle. I now address the contract at the end of the interview. "So do you have any questions? Well, yeah, as a matter of fact, I do have this one thing......." by this point I have decided wether I even want the job or not or gotten the feeling that they even really want me. For the jobs I want, it seems to have worked well. I figure, if the facility either cannot or will not work with the contract, it saves them the hassle and me the emotional upheaval and ulcer inducing waiting. I understand the cannot work with (some just can't). Those that refuse because of the stigma and thier own narrowminedness, well, they can ermmm...KMA??
Anyhow, other HMAs I have applied at, I have gotten nothing but chirping crickets after the initial phone call from HR. In frustration I mention IPN (this was after traversing the state from one end to the other job hunting) and I get the "we'll be in touch." Sure you will. Mmmm, okay.

Stupid autocorrect....keeps changing ‘HCA' to ‘HMA'. Y'all know what I meant....
i just finished a 5 yr contract with IPN last week! yay. i've been working in a HCA facility for the last 3.4 yrs while i was in iPN. this hosp is ipn friendly. they have hired 4 of us. i was the last to finish the program. we all finished w/o problems or relapses. ipn has been nothing but professional and kind to me. i have heard other's horror stories, but i never had any issues. i put myself in the situation and ipn was there to keep me from losing my license and for that i am grateful. i did what i was suppose to when i was suppose to and sailed through it. i had dui's was the reason i had to go into ipn
Congrats on finishing this horrid nightmare. ‘‘Tis true that if you do what you are supposed to do, it is a sail. The thing is if you don't belong there, don't do drugs, don't drink, needed behavior health treatment and got drug/alcohol rehab, and were under the mistaken impression they were there to help, were directed toward the most unethical of evaluators and down the very confusing rabbit hole one went, not understanding what hit ya. Professional and kind is not the description I would apply to my experience, to say the least.
If you were able to land in an IPN friendly facility that was supportive and well run, you are most fortunate and I envy you. Most are not so fortunate. I don't know where in Florida you are. Perhaps it might be the regional area that I am in or just the general cluster of HCAs. I have not found them to be terribly friendly. Either way, goes to show the danger of making generalizations.
Either way, I am happy for you that you are done. In spite of my nightmare, I will concede that there is a place for programs such as these and there are people that truly benefit from them. I also think they should be more supportive and less punitive. Just my opinion.

Hello, I am just reading post and saw that you were in a IPN program and I was wondering what for? I have a Dwi on my record and have the job as long as that doesn't stop me from getting it. Please lmk if you know if HCA will hire nurses with DWI in 2014. Thank you
