Having so much fun!

Nursing Students General Students

I'm in my fifth semester of a BSN program and even though I'm only three weeks into the actual nursing program, I'm having so much fun! I love my clinical instructor, and my classes are interesting and my classmates (especially my clinical group) are amazing. I got to volunteer last night at a student run refugee clinic, doing assessments and vitals and discharge notes. I even got to present a patient to the attending! I was treated as a valued member of the team (nursing and med students).

I'm just having such a fun, positive experience and I wanted to share :)

Yay! I'm glad you are having a great experience! :) I'm in my last semester in an ADN program, and I'm blessed to have awesome teachers and classmates! It really makes a difference when there is support.

Awesome, Jen!

I took two tests today and have my vital signs demo on Thursday. I've checked the BP of almost everyone I know. :woot:

Crushed my med pass check off!

Awesome! Way to go...I have mine soon too...hope I can be equally as successful!

My first clinical day was amazing!! My nurse was so helpful and sweet and I feel lucky to have been assigned to her. I got to give insulin and pass PO meds, along with other super fun stuff. I'm on a high right now!

Had my first pathophysiology exam today - got an 84. I'm thrilled about that grade, it was a really tough test.

I had my vital signs check-off today, and although I passed, my professor wants me to keep practicing and become more efficient. I'm going to work had on it this week!

They also told us that this first eight weeks is when they're reading is into everything, so it's only going to get crazier...which I knew, but OMG! :)

Wow, that's a high C in my program. Also, patho sucks but it's needed for med-surg...

Even if it was a high C in my program, I'd still be pleased - over half the class failed the exam. It's a B in my program, our grade cut off is 75. That might sound low to some, but there's a lot more that goes into passing a class than just your grade average - lots of ATI, group projects, check offs, med calc tests that don't count towards your grade, but that you have to score from 90-100 to continue in the program.

Sorry if I came off a certain way to you, I meant that I wish I could be thrilled with an 84 sometimes on my exams but it usually tanks our test average when exams are worth 85% in every class. So everyone in my program are always aiming for a B or higher.

Also, good job that you were able to do so good on your first patho exam! I remember that my first patho exam didnt go so great and I had a few up and down in that class but the main apoint about getting through nursing school is just to pass everything and worry about grades later.

Sorry, I think I took your post too personally. I'm tired. :)

That's a C in my program as well. Ours is 93-100% A, 85-92% B, 84-77% C, and below 77% is failing. Woof. lol

Anyways, congrats Jen!! And I'm so happy that you're loving your program. :)

Random update. It looks like my patho teacher curved the grades for our test and my grade went up to a 90. I'm not sure how to feel about that, but she's new this year and I guess it is what it is.

I got to learn phlebotomy yesterday, a semester early! It's for one of the clinics I'm volunteering at - they need nursing student volunteers to be able to draw blood for tests, so now I'm all checked off!

Concepts exam tomorrow, which I've not spent any time studying yet - so you can guess what I'll be doing all day.

Had clinical yesterday, was great. I'm working with spinal cord injury patients so I'm getting lots of awesome patients and great experience in all sorts of different things. The nurses on that unit are all so eager to teach and show us new things.
