Hey dudes & dudettes,

I taking my LPN board exam end of April and I needed HELP!..I have been studying the Mosby's and also Lipponcott book, but they both dont have the same information. Shouldn't all the books have the same information??..Example...I was studying the outline for blood disorders in the Mosby book and then I did the questions in the Lipponcott book (has only questions, no outlines)....but the outline did not have all the blood disorders. Do I just study what is in the Mosby's outline book and nothing further or what??..please help cause I am having an PANIC ATTACK.

HI, First of all TAKE a deep breath and RELAX!!! Both books you are using are fine. It's been awhile since I took my boards (1988) I honestly can't remember any questions specific to any blood disorders, although I'm sure there were. I DO remember that on one particular question myself and 3 others gave 4 different answers. We had 4 choices and none of us agreed to what each other answered. We spoke to our Instructor and she acknowledged that they all could be correct depending on the situation and assessment. We all did pass. Yes you are expected to be a little nervous, I'd be concerned if you weren't. Lots of luck to you and I hope you enjoy your Nursing career as much as I have. Remember to RELAX !!

I just took the boards on March 12th and passed.... I used the Saunders questions from the disk and used the book also... I also used the mosby's disk but I liked Saunders because if I got an answer wrong it would tell me why it was wrong and why the correct answer was better... It really helped me... Good Luck and keep us informed :)

You're gonna be just fine. First of all, take a deep breath, and go for a walk. I got the practice test cd, did that a few times, walked into the exam, wrote, and passed. IF you've passed all of your other tests during the course, you will pass this.It is not any harder thatn any of the exams you've taken thys far. I still suggest that you study both texts.

Congrats!!! on passing the lpn board exam. How did you study?..did you read each and every outline and do questions?....or did you just do the cd questions?...how long did you study?..did you study everyday?.....how long did you have before you took the exam?..PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

I used the Saunders and Mosby cds.... mainly the Saunders...I only used the book if I was not doing so good in one subject I would skim the book and try the test again and I would repeat that in areas I wasnt too strong in...I did study everyday for 2 weeks... I graduated in June of 2004 and had alot of things going on in my life so I didnt study or even open a nursing book until I scheduled my exam... which was late February 2005 and my test was March 12th... but I just made sure I did 100-150 questions a day(sometimes more :wink2: )... focusing on my problem areas... with Saunders you can take system specific tests and that really helped me... I can only remember a few questions from the exam so all I can say is dont forget nutrition related to diseases and culture!! I am sure you will do fine!! :p Keep me informed!!OH, by the way...Do you have a Saunders CD?? Let me know if you don't.....

Look, don't freak, it isn't as bad as you think. I just took mine Feb. 23 and passed. I KNEW I failed, I had like 204 questions, half of them were ABC's and Patient Priority. (Which patient do you see first) questions. I only studied for about a week, about 25 min a day. Don't try to learn new things now, try to recall what you have already learned. I freaked so bad, and post-poned my test like 3 times, now I see I was just like the tests they give at school, they are just on a computer.

You're so sweet!..I DO NOT HAVE THE SAUNDER'S REVIEW CD. I know this is a silly question but....Is there any way that I could get it from you. I have the Mosby's & Lipponcott only. Is there anyway that you can download the cd and send it to me????..my cell is 405-210-4721, please call me and I can try and figure somethig out. Thank you.

Thanks for the advice.Which book did you study from. Did you have any med-surg questions???.....cuase thats what I have been really focusing on. I have been studying from Lipponcott and Mosbys. I study the outline, make flashcards, and do questions. Let me know what you think I should do.

Greetings ~

As long as you remember the ABC's, maslow's hierachy, and the nursing process you'll do fine (when in doubt: assess). The test is mostly prioritizing...which pt comes first. I graduated October 10th, and scheduled the test for November 7th. I knew if I didn't, I'd keep putting off studing. I figured out how many days I had, divided the pages I needed to study (Saunders), and read that many each day. I didn't touch anything the day before the test. On the drive to the test site I put a kid rock cd in and didn't think about the test. I sat down in front of the computer, took a deep breath, said a little prayer and did my best. I passed in 85.

Read the question...find your answer...then READ THE QUESTION AGAIN.

Best of luck.
