Have to take A&P I while working full time (single mom)

Published

So, in order to keep with my career/personal goals of wanting to be done with school by time both of my kids are in middle school, I have to take A&P I in the fall while I'm still working full time. My initial plan was to take it in the spring when I had planned to drop to part-time work, but my transfer college only offers A&P I in the fall, and then II in the spring.

I'm obviously a little freaked out due to the many horror stories I have heard about A&P. I'm very determined to do well in school and to reach my goals, for myself and my children. I don't want to let them down.

Has anyone had to work full time while taking A&P?

I am very lucky that I live with my parents, so not all cooking and cleaning falls to me. I am also lucky that I have an amazing BF who has promised to help in anyway he can. He already watches me kids for me one night a week so I can go to my chem lecture.

I guess I'm just looking for positive stories of people making it through.

I took all my pre reqs while still working full time. Totally doable. Just set aside time for studying. Be strict about it.

Hello!

You can absolutely make it !! Everyone has different levels of learning, so do not be deterred by someone else's experience. The one thing you need to know about A&P is that is a lot of information to memorize. You will end up studying a lot more than you you will probably use, but it will not be in vain. Best wishes !! Move forward !!

You can do it! Just set a time everyday to study and really focus. I know that can be hard with kids but i woke up two houra before my daughter most mornings just to study and not be distracted. You seem like you have a great suppose system also so you should have no problem :)

Also, you may be able to get a copy of the syllabus and read ahead of time over the summer. Or, pick up one of one of the cliff note style books or EZ books and read over the summer.
