Get you a box of Kleenex, leave off runny makeup, pre-record a message on a mini-recorder in case you cannot speak (LOL), and ENJOY. You obviously mean a lot to your class for them to do this. You are right, it is about this. I too help out my class and I honestly get nearly as much pleasure from helping someone understand something or grasp a concept as I do from helping patients. GOOD luck in your endeavors and keep up having such a giving a caring heart.
CONGRATS TO YOU.........
Good for you, BoonersMom!!
That's the best kind of honor, one you receive from your peers.
Truthfully now that I know I dont know HOW I will NOT SOB on stage. Just THINKING about it makes me sob.
Just practice smiling and nodding your acknowledgment. I can usually maintain composure if I keep quiet. Once I engage the vocal cords, though, all bets are off.
Keep in mind: They love you so don't feel badly if your emotions overwhelm you; they'll still love you.
Congratulations again. I love stories where the good guys win!

I served our class in an officer position as Mentor since Fundamentals.
We finished on Thursday and I just found out tonight that the class voted to honor me at pinning.
They are honoring me because of all the work I put in to tutoring and mentoring ( most of) the class for the last 2 years.
It supposedly was going to be a surprise but they know I am an emotional person so they forewarned me.. LOL
Let me tell you THIS is what it is all about. I will eventually forget about the stress and the tests and the riff raff.......but I will always remember being honored.
Wow.
