I really need some advice! I graduated in April/2006 and passed my boards in Feb/2007. Since it took so long for me to get ATT, I had to take another job as a manager at a weight loss center. I had a baby in March and have now returned back to work. I am now ready to start work as a nurse but I am so scared and nervous that I have forgotten a lot of imp. info! What should I do? I love my job now, but I didn't get the RN title to not use it! Has anyone else waited too long, or just a long time? Any input would be appreciated! (-:
Same thing with me. I graduated May2006, between family and trying to pass the NClex it is now June2007 and I am an RN looking for my first job. I am very worried about getting a job, some programs start in August but I realized I just missed one at a hospital I want to work at. Im worried because I also dont have any experience as a care tech or anything else in a hospital. I have been applying so many places. I really liked the flu clinic idea, at least to DO something while I wait on finding a job and maybe it will help me make connections for future opportunities.
Sure!! look everyone has their issues. Just because you didnt find a job righ away is not gong to cause you to not be able to find a job. If we are in such need of nurses then there shouldnt be a problem. Have you been asked why you didnt take a job right away?? Im not worried anymore. well both do fine!

Thanks for the encouragement.
I took my test last Wednesday the 20th and found out I passed on Friday. Yesterday (Monday) I wrote my resume and began making phone calls for meeting with recruitment and applied to a lot of jobs online. No one has asked me yet why it took so long.
My mom is disabled and with my dads work schedule there were a lot of things I needed to do to help out after graduation that had been put off for years. After that I did not work to concentrate on passing my test (which took longer than I expected) but now I'm ready. I'm regretting not being a care tech per diem.
Like you said, we will both do fine. I guess it is the normal worry everyone gets, no matter the field, when job hunting. At least for nurses there are more opportunities and stability.

Thats great !! I took mine three weeks ago and should be getting the results this week!! I am so nervous! I think I did ok.well see!
Hi newlvngrad! I had an interview yesterday for a position on a telemetry unit. I am very nervous about it because other nurses in the area have told me what a tough hospital it is due to being shortstaffed and a high patient load.... I am thinking to myself do I really want to take this job or wait for something else??? I will be making basically the same pay I make now as manager of a weight loss clinic (and I now have nights, weekends and holidays OFF and am a single mother of a 5 year old and 3 mo.old) so it is wracking my nerves thinking about it. I am soooo confused:bugeyes:, but at the same time it only makes sense to take it because I will eventually make more and can go to grad school in future...not to mention that's what I went to school for!! I'll be doing a lot of praying and if they offer me the position I will most likely take it, I think I would like to eventually go to ICU, but I don't know what I would specialize in as a Nurse Practitioner once i do that...I am probably overthinking things as that is years in the future.
They didn't ask me why I waited so long tho, altho I told them (help out parents and have a baby). You will do fine! I have recieved alot of encouragement from the floor nurses I talked to.
