Has your hospital census been abnormally low this season?

U.S.A. Florida

Hi there. I work at a medium sized hospital on the east coast of FL, about an hour east of Orlando, on a cardiovascular floor. It really seems like our census has been lower much longer than usual this year. They keep calling nurses "off" on our floor! Just wondering if anyone else has had the same observation at your place of work?

Our census @ my LTCF has been critically low for about 4 months

Winter months tops--> 425 however the low this week 194!! Not good at all- not sure what's going to happen other than no $$ in paychecks for anyone!:crying2:

That is what usually happens in Florida...snowbirds go home and the census drops. It took awhile for the snowbirds to come here last year, census was down for awhile..

Not in Ft. Lauderdale, for 2 weeks now weve been getting an increase flow of patients

Interesting....

no insurance = no elective surgeries, no ER or PCPs visits

no jobs = less patients/ more death

love the economy!
