Has anyone went to Unitek for the LVN Program????

I am going to start this November & I wanted to know if anyone has attended Unitek College in California...Please let me know what you thought of the School.

hey there! I tooK LVN @ Unitek-Santa Clara, CA. Sooo true it was expensive my student loan was like $28K+ inclusive of everything except IV Cert., but then I graduated w/ flying colors & most of the people who are working as LVN in Bayarea told me that I can pay it off right away once employed. Half of the class has negative feedback of the school, because they want a "spoon feeding" kind of teaching since they paid too much. I dont have anything against them. You have to LIKE the program because 11months is indeed a rigid & stressful.They also have an ATI test(Final exam), this is a Predictor exam(patterned to the real NCLEX) that will tell you your weaknesses before you take the NCLEX. I just took my Nclex-PN last Sept. 11 & it stopped @ #85. I have to agonize for 3-4wks waiting for my results.

Thank you so much for your time. I am sure that you passed!!!! Would you say that the class is really hard???? I went to the Pre Requ. last years for 2 weeks then I stopped going because it was a brand new class and the Treacher's acted like they had no idea what they were doing. On top of that I had found out that I was prego so I am going to start this year.

Wow! when did you take your pre req's? we could have been in the same class. I started June 2006 pre req's @ fremont campus & then after that moved on to the Santa Clara campus for the program itself. Thanks! The 1st one on our batch to take the exam on Aug. 20th just got the results today..she stopped @ 205 items & she passed!! hope i did too...:welcome:

Thanks for the Welcome!!! I am sorry I was in the Sacramento Campus & I started in November 2006. What number did you stop at???? How are you graded on the test??? Also, what field are you going to work in?

" Ah, Unitek in Sac. , so your director there is X! She is great:) We are graded based on the test, clinicals & paperworks of course. When i took the NCLEX it stopped @ # 85. Btw, the 1st person in our batch who took it last Aug 20 (she stopped @ # 205, maximum) She passed! I have to wait for 3-4wks time to know if i pass/ fail:)

Yep, that is her name she is very nice. Would you say that the course is very hard???? Is it just like the Pre Req's class the whole time???? Regarding your test just think +++++ maybe you can find out online a little sooner....

entirely different from the Pre req's of course, coz this time you'll tackle more on Med surg..You have to read whenever you have time becoz if you'll just rely on the lectures/powerpoint you'll find it hard on the tests. Utilize the Saunders NCLEX(orange book), it helped a lot. You have to sacrifice partying if you're that type of person LOL:nono:. Read, read, read! Since English is not primary my language, i understand the material better when i read it rather than listening to the lectures.

Nope I do not party I just have a Hubby & 4 kiddos ;p Thank you so much for your input it really helped...I am very scared because I was never good in math and that seems to be a big part of the schooling right...Let me know if you passed the test.

I start school next week (monday) at the sac campus just wondering if you could tell me what type of classes the pre requs consist of? They say it is for three weeks. i am very nervous. I'm sure you passed on the Nclex good luck.

Hi,

I am starting school at Unitek on Monday and just wondering what the pre reqs consist of? What kind of classes are they? Do they go over math and english?? I am not that good at math either but bought this book called Math for Meds and have been using it and really helps. I thought i should brush up on my math before i start. Good luck to u!
