Hello,

I am scheduled to take the NCLEX on 14/2/07 and was wondering if anyone had been to the Pearson Vue Centre in Sydney.

I am just wondering what to expect, and I would love to hear from anyone that passed on their first try.

Pedar72,

It's strange thinking back to the NCLEX, it seems like so long ago. I thought the whole experiece was stressful, towards the end of the exam I found it to be harder and harder.

I wish you the best of luck!

i sat the NCLEx on Thursday in Sydney. Had the min 75Q, and felt like a total idiot walking out of there, felt as though i had failed, seriously, was laughing in total disbelief!!! a good 10Q that i seriously did the Maslow's heiracy theory on, as i wouldn't have known otherwise...but got my "unofficial" results online and i passed!!! i'm really happy... even though i have no great desire to work there anymore, it's nice to know that it's an option!

hi pedar72.

i'm not 100%, but do think that you have to have obstetrics in order to be registered and have a license to practice. i did my nursing degree thru uni, finishing in 1998 in brisbane, and didn't do any hours theory or clinical in paeds and maternity/obstetrics. i had to do bridging courses thru deakin uni in both of these areas, then arrange clinical placement of 80 hrs each in both specialties to meet the US requirements. that was a big pain... took ages to find somewhere that would help me out! i wasn't in any hurry, so it took me about 18 mths to do this, of course, i'm sure you could do it in about half that if you tried. it has then taken vermont board about 3mths to approve my ed'n etc and have now been given the ok to sit my NCLEX(ATT). i'm not even sure if i want to work there anymore, but thought i'd do the leg work now, so that if i do change my mind later, i've done half the work. try pm suzanne on this forum, she may be able to help.

Susie,

I am currently taking the Peds/Maternity course from Deakin University to meet these requirements. I was wondering if you can advise on your experience with this course in terms of difficulty. Do they mark the assessments quite hard and how difficult were the multiple choice question exams and how many questions. They say you only have 30 min to complete the exam. Were you given any examples by your online tutors? Thanks

i did the deakin course in 2005 so think the testing criteria has changed somewhat. I remember doing a couple of assignments, a journal when on prac and one exam that i could do at home and send it back in the mail! think with the advent of online tutorials and exams in the past 6 years that things may be different now. Overall... i didnt find it too bad, think it's easily do-able whilst working fulltime. the NCLEX is hard tho, so be prepared for that.

hi guys. any NCLEX tips please. thanks :)

Congratulations Lava! :yelclap::nurse:

I am curios though as to why you took the exam in Sydney and then received the results in the US as it could've been disastrous!
