  1. I am an Australian RN with over 16 years exp. and now live in southern california with a valid working visa. I need to make up prac/theory hours in OBS to get my CA licence about 80/40hrs approx. Does anyone have any ideas or if any hospitals offer any courses etc. that is recognised by the CA board? I am so keen to work over here but need to get this done before i can get licenced... it is really frustrating! thanks in advance for any advice. pedar72
  2. Thanks suzanne, Unfortunately I did not do any clinical maternity in my hospital training. Are you (or anyone) aware of the CA boards requirements for make up clinical hours. ie can i work supernumery at a maternity hospital or do i have to do the clincial with an educator? i am desperate, i am still waiting to hear from the board re my application and my husband co. sees us heading over in about 5 weeks! much appreciated
  3. yes it would be really helpful. especially hours in maternity/peds. i have read 40 clinical and 80 theory and vise-versa. thanks for your input... pedar72

  6. what study guides/supports did you use prior to the exam. i am currently in brisbane applying to the US - CA. congratulations!!!
  7. can i get someone to pick up the fingerprint card from the California board of nursing? and send it to me?
  8. HI Rental in brisbane QLD is pretty bad, people are actually offering more than the requested rent to get properties. i think it depends where you want to live/work in QLD. Rural areas are usually cheaper than city areas. In Brisbane bedroom appt are not that common, at a guess they would range between 170- 250pw depending on suburb and surroudings. Also time of year - take into account commencement of uni. i believe you are only allowed to put in one application at a time. not sure if it helps.
  9. hi all, i cannot utilise the livescan finger print service as i live in australia, does anyone know how long it takes for the finger print card to come once i have requested it? or another way to get it a bit quicker - download form maybe? i am trying to reduce my application waiting time as much as possible as i fear i may have to do extra clinical. thanks for your help! pedar72
