Has anyone taken the HESI A2?

Published

I'm taking the Hesi A2 exam this Wednesday.

I've been studying math, vocab, and grammar. I'm going to study bio and chemistry today and tomorrow.

I think I'm ready for only math.

How are the other sections? I studied all the vocab words that was on the hesi study guide. Will this be okay? As for grammer and reading, are they simple?

Also, for bio and chemistry..will I be fine as long as I study the guide? please help

Hey NewStart85,

I toke the Hesi A-2 in September and i studied the book I was only required to take 5 section, which were the reading, grammer, voc, math and A&P. The most challeging part for me was the math, which i scored a 77, but if you study the book and review your A&P Lab book you should do fine.

Is your school wanting you to take all sections?

i have to take the math, vocab, grammar, reading, math and chem.

i'm so nervous. can you give me some feedback on those sections? were any of the vocab from the book on the test? how was the reading/grammar?

Hey Newstart85,

The book prepares you well for the test espcially for the math, reading, voc and grammer

The Hesi Grammar, Vocab and Reading are almost the EXACT same as the study guide... the math was VERY easy... if you've had college algebra you should be able to ace this without thinking twice... I had to take Aanatomy section, no chem or biology, and it was MOSTLY AP2. more urinary, reproductive and cardiovascular than anything.

If you have to take AP, you should not study that book because the questions on the test are easier. If you've only got one shot, I'd say study as much as you can on the english parts, and wing it on the math part. I don't have anything to add about the bio/chem parts because I didnt have to take them.

Oh... make sure you know that 1 kilogram = 2.2lbs... that threw alot of people I knew...how many oz. in a gallon...and roman numerals... other than that, the calculating pecentages and ratios is a breeze. I scored 98 on math and 100 on AP...didn't do as well on the English sections... My school averages all three: Reading Grammar and Vocab. I got a 94.6 on that part.

Vocab is directly from the book. Grammar Rules are Directly from the book. You should be fine...

GOOD LUCK!

Make sure you know the conversions. I remember a lot of those. Our test had a calculator built in to the test btw. It was tedious, but not too hard. The grammar part was super easy. I remember multiple questions about distinguishing between "there" "they're" and "their" and "form" and "from". Overall it was very simple. I bought the elsevier online review course (that website they talk about in the other hesia2 threads is not available anymore). That online course was full of wrong answers and stupid mistakes. Be careful if you buy it. I got a 98 without stressing much. It didn't take hardly anyone the whole time to do it.

I know this may be a stupid question, but I have to take the HESI A2 next sem, what book are you all referring to? I want this book! lol

@ newstart85,

how was it today?

Specializes in Emergency Nursing.

The HESI A2 is almost a complete joke. It only asks the most basic stuff. If you graduated high school and took the bare minimum "college prep" courses the test is not worth getting worked up over. I literally just showed up for the test having not studied or reviewed anything and scored a 98% cumulative.

Thanks so much!!!
