Has anyone successfully completed an LVN to RN program? If so, how difficult was it? Did you feel like you were catching up, or did the education that you received as an LVN provide you with a solid foundation in nursing?

Please advise ;-)

I just graduated from and LPN to RN mobility program. My LPN education gave me a very solid foundation going into the RN program. The RN program expanded on what I already knew and taught me how to think like an RN. The RN progam taught me what to do when a patients health status changes, where as the LPN had only taught me how to recognize the change. I am very glad that I went for my RN!!!!

i became an lvn in 2006 and im currently in the 4th semester of an adn program. i had to do the entire rn program due to the fact that my school did not offer an lvn-rn bridge program. to be honest, i felt that the lvn program was a lot more difficult than the RN program. i also feel that my lvn experience provided me a solid foundation for the RN program. good luck

Dear "A New Start";

Are you talking to me?? LOL. I know, now I want a hospital job but at my age and in this economy, with no acute care med surg or tele experience, I am finding it very hard to find a job. I actually even told HR managers; I would be willing to do Er tech work, ect, whilst I completed a CCRN course, and stay on after the successful completion, just to get the opportunity to be considered. I am in a quandry, I want to do critical care, I was the highest grade earner and question answerer, LOL, in my clinical rotation, but I seriously have applied to EVERY hospital in 100 miles over the past year, I finally went back to graduate school, because no facility except SNF will hire me:idea:

*** I did LPN to RN at one of Wisconsin's technical colleges. Two, 4 month semesters. It was easy.

FYI You can not become CCRN certified without actual work experience as a paid RN in an ICU. It is not something you can obtain prior to becomeing an ICU nurse.

lol youll do great in AP. its very interesting stuff and it will further solidify prior knowledge that you have regarding AP. But that would be awesome if you could test out of nursing 1. i honestly did not learn anything new in nursing 1. :uhoh3: the only thing that i found somewhat challenging was performing new procedures just because i have never ever done them before. other than that, i believe that the majority of the theory content was stuff that we have learned in the LVN program... goodluck momtojosh!!!
