Hi everyone. I will be starting a nursing program this august (yea!!) and am curious if anyone else has ever heard of this. As far as I know I am going to be charged for classes I already took at another college. A&P 1 for example, I just took this spring at a community college, I wont be taking it again during nursing school, but they will be charging me for it since it is part of the curriculum. Essentially I will be paying for it twice. This will be the same for any classes that i have taken ahead of time. I am going to call the school for more clarification about this but was just wondering if anyone else has run into this situation. Thanks!
Sounds fishy to me, if they wanted you to do A&P there they shouldn't have accepted the transfer credit and make you retake the class.
If however this is set tuition meanng it says $2500 per semester for 12-18 credits then the people above are correct, it doesn't matter what classes are in that semester, if you are still taking over 12 you get charged that tuition regardless.
However if it is some kind of "we charge for the classes you didn't take with us" kind of deal then definetely get it checked out.
Thanks for the replies everyone. I called the school the other day and it is like saysfaa says above. I have been a part time student for a while now (paying per credit) so the "over 12 credits" thing never occurred to me. what confused me initially is when I called the schools registrar and asked if I should take A&P II over the summer at my current school and he said " it will make it easier on your self but is still included in our tuition" i'm like whaaat?! So anyway, I understand how it works now. Thanks again everybody. :)

My private tech LPN school did the same thing. The charged for the schooling, not a set price per class, a set price for books, set price for uniforms etc. There was one price and it included everything.
I had taken psych in college about 5 yrs before taking the LPN class. I got no money off the tuition for the psych class, and I had to attend the class and pass it again.
And for what its worth the State run LPN programs did the same thing. One price for the schooling regardless of whether or not you had previously taken and passed a class that was part of the LPN schooling. Its not uncommon to see this.
Many of my classmates had gone to college previously and had the A&P portion of the classes, they too had the same price and had to take the A&P class and pass.
