Has anyone heard from the John Muir New grad program?

Published

I'm curious if anyone applied to the John Muir Walnut Creek program earlier this month and if so, have you heard anything back ?

I know that they canceled the program in Concord but were keeping the program open in Walnut Creek. I have no idea how many positions will be in the Walnut Creek program as the recruiter wasn't sure when I last spoke to her.

Anyhow, any info anyone has would be appreciated. I'll post as soon as I hear anything as well.

Good luck with the job hunt everyone!

way to go cm21! did u go to school around john muir, work there, or precept there?

thank you 50caliber and maroonaam! Yes, I precepted there.

HI all,

I have an interview scheduled for next week! Does anyone know what the first interview usually entails? Is it clinical questions or more personality based? Any testing?

I'd love to hear any input from those of you who have interviewed with John Muir in the past! Thanks so much!!!:loveya:

Hey decnewgrad.....Did you also precept there?

The first interview should with the recruiter and its mainly generic personality questions. You will get like 1 out 3 possible clinical questions, I think there is one on hyperglycemia and the one I got was increasin HR and decreasing BP-- say what's happening and that you would call the doc (assess, loss of volume, bolus, etc...). Otherwise the questions are pretty generic interview questions to make sure you are not a complete idiot. If the recruiter likes you then you will be scheduled for a panel which is the BIG ONE. Good Luck, I have been there and it is no fun.

Thank you soooo much for the information! I really appreciate it. I'm not sure if you are already a John Muir employee or if you're in the interviewing process like me... if the latter, I wish you the best of luck. Have a great Thanksgiving!

Can anyone describe how the panel interview goes, what to expect and how best to prepare?

Thanks!

Hi Sweetypea,

I had a panel interview at John Muir recently and can tell you what it is like, at least for me. There were about 8-10 people in the room and each asked a question. There weren't any questions that were out of the ordinary. I did get the sense that they were looking for specific answers to some of the questions but a basic nursing knowledge and critical thinking will get you through it.:specs: I think that this point in the interview process they are mainly looking for a good fit personality wise so I would say just go in there, take a deep breath and be yourself. You will do great!

Best of luck!

Thanks a lot! I hope you get the position! I go in tomorrow, wish me luck! I've been studying a lot so I hope it pays off. Let me know when you hear from them! Maybe we'll even work together!

Is John Muir Hospital open for New Grad applications right now? Thanks guys. :nuke:

Specializes in Tele Step Down, Oncology, ICU, Med/Surg.

No, not accepting current applications now but you can still log into their computer system and put in an alert for the nest time they have openings.

The panel interviews are very short--20 minutes per person. Don't stress when you walk in and see 10 people. They were very nice and the questions were easy. So easy in fact I may have answered too quickly and wish I took a minute to really think about my answers.

Realistic about my chances at this point; I think they are interviewing way more people at panel level than they need to. It will make their job harder, but am grateful for the interview experience. They expect more positions to open up this time next year when they open up the new tower they've been building.

Good Luck on your Journey's everyone!
