Need help with a decision!!
I think you must be kidding. If not, I think you'll find yourself quite miserable in any inpatient nursing job given your likes and dislikes. So... good luck with that.

Should I make the decision to switch career?
I was just hired as a new grad in norcal. Starting pay is 47 and hour plus and extra 7 per hour for night shift for a total of 54/hr. From what I understand, this is the going rate in the SF Bay Area. The only problem is, it's near impossible to land a job here.

How many of you got into nursing school with the first try?
I got into SSU on first try with previous BA, 4.0 GPA in prereqs and lots of professional healthcare related work experience.

Moving to CA as New Grad ADN
Hi, I do not mean to be discouraging but California is a really tough place to get a job right now for new nurses. Especially in the SF Bay area. The vast majority of hospitals are simply not hiring new graduate nurses and there are numerous stories of people who graduated last May or even December of 2008 and still do not have jobs OR have had to move out of state to get jobs. So, I strongly advise you to research which hospitals you may be interested in working at and contacting the recruiters to see if they will be hiring this Summer. Unless you have enough money to live on out here for some time - you should probably land a job before coming out here. Sorry - I really do not mean to be discouraging - just make sure you have a realistic outlook before you move. I wish you the best of luck!

Has anyone heard from the John Muir New grad program?
I received the amazing news that I was offered a position in the PCU yesterday! I am in shock! I got a hint of this possibility early in the day when the company that runs the background check gave me a call to ask for my birth date - so I think if they run a background check this is probably a good sign. I wish everybody the best of luck! When I spoke to the recruiter yesterday she said they'd be calling this week and next.

Has anyone heard from the John Muir New grad program?
Hi all, I had my panel interview yesterday and due to a bad case of nerves forgot to ask when they would be contacting selected candidates. It went okay and I agree with the others who have posted re: the panel interview. The questions were pretty basic - it really does seem like they're going on personality at this point. Does anyone know when they will announce their decisions?

Stanford New Grad program
I received a call from Stanford yesterday! I am truly amazed as I expected my application to go into a black hole. Unfortunately, I missed the call and the HR person said not to call them back and assured me that they would call me back. She said she wanted to be prepared when she calls back as she has some questions to ask me. So now, I'm really nervous. Has anyone been through this process before? I'd love to hear any advice or about any personal experience anyone has had with the Stanford application process. Thanks!!!

Has anyone heard from the John Muir New grad program?
HI all, I have an interview scheduled for next week! Does anyone know what the first interview usually entails? Is it clinical questions or more personality based? Any testing? I'd love to hear any input from those of you who have interviewed with John Muir in the past! Thanks so much!!!:loveya:

NorthBay Medical Center New Grad Program
I applied 10/27. I just emailed the nurse recruiter to ask about how many positions there were and how many candidates they'd be interviewing. She replied fairly promptly and said that they're hiring for 3 positions, they had over 200 applicants and are interviewing 15 candidates. I have a feeling that most of the interviewees work there or had preceptorships there. Good luck to all.

NorthBay Medical Center New Grad Program
I just received an email stating that I was NOT selected for an interview. I have no idea how many positions they're hiring for but I'm curious to know. At this point, it looks like I'll be leaving California. I'll get my BSN next month, have a 4.0, did an extra preceptorship and took an extracurricular arrhythmia interpretation course.I thought I'd at least be getting interviews. I think I'll get my ACLS to give me something else to put on my resume... but, I'm not getting interviews... so I think out of state it is. Good luck to everyone else who applied to Northbay. If anyone who does get and interview can let me know about their basic credentials, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks.
