Has anyone heard of CARLEEN HOME HEALTH SCHOOL???

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi everyone ...RNs, PNs, students and all the wanna-bes like me. Can anybody tell me if they have heard or has any experience with this school -- CARLEEN HOME HEALTH SCHOOL? Its located in University Drive, Plantation FL. Coz ive never heard of this school ..even the name sounds -- umm, unprofessional?. They dont have a website too. and for their clinicals, you have to do it in Nassau,Bahamas. A relative of mine is trying to get in this school for RN and she says that since im waitlisted anyways for PN, to try this school coz they are currently accepting students. On Superpages.com (i told you, they dont have a website!), i found 6 reviews. and one reviewee said that this school has just been approved by the board of nursing to to conduct PN and RN classes.

Any inputs out there??? thanks

find your BON website and look them up, see if they are accredited. sounds strange to me though.

just looked it up, it says "approved" which according to the website makes you eligible to take the NCLEX in FL, but im not sure that its accredited.

if it is not accredited, you may not be hired by some hospitals/other facilities, even if you have a state license.

The school is approved. I planning to go there but i was looking for more reviews before i invest my own $$$. The classes are always full so thats a good sign. Please let me know if you hear anything. I plan to attend the next class which is starting July 2012. Good luck:)

Strange name for a nursing school. Clinicals in the Bahamas? Hmmm.

Thanks for the reply guys. Will continue with my investigating though and will let you know

Where do I begin...the school is Definately approved, but it would be one of the BIGGEST MISTAKES OF YOUR LIFE, if you attend her school. Im speaking based on experience!!! I was once a student, and will never forget the experience. The few good things about her school, is the times and the length of her programs are convienant. Otherwise, it was a nightmare. We didnt learn anything, Carleen herself is very rude and disrespectful!!! and yes, you think of Bahamas u think a mini-vacation...Yeah right..It gets very expensive, you stay in crappy hotels, sometimes No transportation, and then u walk to your clinicals..Your treated like your in Elementary school..No offense to foreign country, because im from a foreign country, but they are not up to date! Why in the world are we going to another Country when living in US??? You dont learn properly in clinicals..some days we did NOTHING AT ALL!!! Really sad to see schools can still stay in business, and take hard earned money from students and teach you nothing!! most of her graduate students, cannot pass stateboard...or wont even try to take it.and dont be late on any payments or you will get kicked out!!! i could right a book if i had to but i wont..dont want to bash her school, but i feel like its only right that im honest

wow butterfly2011, I also was inquiring about that school but when the lady told me about the clinicals in Bahamas i was like hmm.... i'll have to pass on that one. it just didn't make sense to me.

hey butterfly i think you are fluttering around too much.. i think you are bitter because you were kicked out of school... you cannot go to BCC or MDC and owe not even a dime. you have to pay before you even enroll for the class. you start tto he class with a zero balance. i noted all the gramatical errors you made in your post.. maybe that is the reason you could not finish the program.. take care and if you dont have good to say about her school.. dont say anything.. let those interested in a education get it.. without your negativity

I am sorry you had a bad experience ! I am still interested because all other bridge programs in south Florida are 35,000+ . Please tell me more about the school I greatly appreciate your honesty and don't worry even though you had a negative experience I am prepared for a year of hell ! So about the Bahamas that is not included in the base price? If not do you have to stay at the specified hotel? How long is each trip ? Can my husband( he's skeptical about safety he is even willing to stay in a separate room) go without drama ? Or do they allow cellphone usage due to the fact you are out of country and need to check in at home? Airplane or cruise ship? do they do ati?( most schools do it together as a class)Do they give extra credit ? Do you see anyone fail class ? Thanks so much!

C'mon don't be such a diva ! She's entitled to her opinion ! She had a negative experience so she's obviously bitter and it won't stop a potential student like myself from attending! I have an appt next week! I'm sure she wasn't expecting her post to be graded for spelling! But hey if you went to that school then it's a different story I would understand why you are so offended ....If not butt out! I appreciated her honesty even though you didn't!

I attend this school and it has been a great program for me so far, her program is getting full quick so take consideration on attending if this is the decision you make. If your doing the bridge program then the program is a little shorter than mines for I am in the RN program. The Bahamas is included in the price of the program, if it was said otherwise it is not true..No the ati is not given at this school..Extra credit no, I don't think the word fail should even be an option, in nursing school you should have a study group or if studying by yourself works that's great. I went in signed up toke the entrance and here I am on the rode the becoming and RN, best decision. Remember you are only in the Bahamas for your clinical not drama... I would recommend this school to anyone and everyone, b/c its not easy getting into a nursing program with all the waiting list...All the best in your decision and to all the nurses to be.
