Has anyone gone from CNS to NP

Okay, I've totally come to grips with the fact that I chose the wrong educational path.

My post MSN certs in Med-Surg CNS and Peds CNS are both either retired or retiring soon.

So....I'm considering returning to school yet again for an FNP.

Now, my questions:

1. I have completed two sets of the 3Ps - one adult focus for the med surg CNS and one both adult/family/peds set of 3Ps along with >1200 hrs of clinicals

2. I am trying to convince schools that since I've done all this (and the 3Ps were the same classes that the FNPs took) that I should get some credit for all this education.

3. Anyone else gone from CNS to NP? I'm already a practicing APN (for >8 yrs) in a state where NP=CNS as far as scope of practice goes.

Thanks to anyone!

I remember one of the girls that I graduated with this year she is a CNS and went to get a post-master's for FNP. I asked her if she got credit for her previous coursework and she told me that she did and they gave her credit for her 3P's.

Can I ask what school?

Trauma. Are you worried about not being able to find work with a CNS. I have the same issue. I understand that as long as I keep up the CNS and the state laws allow it I can practice.

Have you looked at the University of South Alabama's family nurse practitioner program (http://www.southalabama.edu/nursing/familynp.html) post-master's certificate?

As you already have the 3Ps, you should be able to complete the program in four semesters.

Good luck.

No, I'm not worried about a job. I have a job now and don't plan to leave but an FNP would give me more options. The problem with my Peds CNS a is that I dint curr ntky care for children so I was planning to retest in 2016 but I won't have that option now
